i know it's my birthday today and i'm feeling quite happy. my colleagues were all more than happy to have a meal out, and my lunch was on them! hehe ok so we do have this bit of a custom going around in our department to treat whoever's birthday was just around at that time. and thanks to friendster to say the least, people i hardly talk to actually bothered to send me well wishes... haha... a good thing ya? at least people around still notice that i'm still alive and kicking.
not forgetting, rachel who baked me a cake on sunday, which totally caught me by surprise. this birthday came and went without (too much) fanfare, but it was still an interesting one nonetheless.
as a good deed, i've decided today (well actually it was 2 days ago but i procrastinated on blogging until now) that i'm going to share some knowledge with everyone. of course this knowledge isn't from yours truly but i just happen to stumble upon it and thought that it's a good idea to raise its awareness.
the topic is here. have you heard of Tourette's syndrome? good for you if you have. but if you haven't, don't worry it's nothing serious. it describes how some people have little quirks called tics, in which these people do or say something that seems uncontrollable but (according to the wiki) rather voluntary. how i started on looking this condition up was because i was wondering what it's about while reading FHM (so you see, it's an educational read) and after seeing its definition you can say i almost immediately wondered if i have any tics of my own. it's no terminal illness, but it's probably one of those little annoyances in life. but of course, not as nearly annoying as my (self-diagnosed) IBS. well okay that's it for my brief introduction of what Tourette's syndrome is about. go read up on it yourself if you want to find out more (not implying that you are suspecting yourself to having it) and take care if you really do.
and about my irritable bowel syndrome... some friends proposed might i be having some sort of an anxiety attack. i don't know how other people deal with their stress factors but my digestive system sure seems to be twisted in pulling a fast one on me this way. guess i'll have to live with it or deal with it some how. do let me know if you have any (constructive) suggestions on a possible remedy, thanks.
oh by the way, bet you didn't know it was teacher's day in thailand every Jan 16th!
*awww -sayang- my rach is flu-ish*
