the week thus far

doesn't feel like it's going to smoothly for me this week. here's a quick recap, followed by what's still on the menu.

first off, monday gave me a surprise. apart from the usual morning runny nose, i had a flat tyre (left-rear) which i discovered had been there for probably a couple of days. the workshop deemed it irreparable, otherwise it could have gotten patched up at a fraction of the cost. so i'd have to get 2 new tyres instead. why two, you ask? some people think that it'd be cheaper to just get one to replace the flat. but this can cause the vehicle to ride unevenly. this can have an impact on the fuel consumption/body integrity of the car in the long run. so with that said, yes, two tyres. $220 + tax. ouch. also, i'd spent an additional hour after the official lunch hour to get this done. AND i have not had my lunch yet then. ended up with a big pau for my makeshift meal.

tuesday just got started, and i discovered my left wrist and underside of the forearm started breaking out in rashes. itchy. i took zyrtec. i suppose it helped. couple of hours later, like after lunch. it was freaky and itchy to look at. i tried not to scratch and concentrated on my work. it improved by lunch luckily.

the stuff piling up for my work is too much for me to complain about. it's always the same old story. i'll just skip that.

now on to some other business. related to my getting wedded. maybe it's best said in point form...
  1. i think my mum's being an obstacle (refer to points 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
  2. we've been planning for our rom/wedding after i proposed, but not much progress so far
  3. balloting queue for hdb unit is ridiculous, may have to resort to walk-in selection (if any)
  4. the costs for just a solemnisation affair is quite prohibitive
  5. the "auspicious" dates isn't going down well with everyone
  6. we're still undecided on having rom-only first, or the whole shebang altogether
  7. a dictated plan would be to rom at fort canning proper, and catering at home
  8. prepared to get a new daughter-in-law, it seems, someone is not
  9. nitpicking about a whole lot of stuff which can be resolved without much hassle
i'm not going down without a fight, much less let my mum have her way, all the way. even if rachel wants to try and give in, there's still me to try and push over. i'm not too please with my parental units right now, don't tell me that they want what's best for me. i'm no longer the little boy they know ten years ago.

can't wait to move out of here, even though i know i'll have to face paying the bills and everything else on my own. i try to do my filial bit for their empty-nest syndrome but it is a total turn-off whenever the tear ducts are activated midway into conversation.

when my kids (if i do have any) grow up in future, we'll see, but i just might chase them out asap when they reach their twenties. i think that's already old compared to angmoh kids.
