F1

Obviously, this post is not about the first Function key on our keyboards. The Formula One race came to town this weekend, and it's been causing quite a huge commotion on the whole island. It's been touted as the first ever F1 night race, first time in Asia, first time in Singapore. And of course, with all the tourists coming in, the government is more than happy to let the speed demons roam our streets for a bit.

The circuit runs in a counter-clockwise direction, encompassing various highlights such as our Singapore Flyer, Suntec City and Marina Square, the Esplanade, old City Hall and even the Anderson Bridge.

It started off on Friday, with the teams doing practice rounds. Then in order to decide who will be taking pole position in the actual race, another round was done on Saturday. Finally, causing quite a stir was what happened today. Ending just hours ago, the race turned out to be rather eventful albeit unfortunate. Felipe Massa scooted off from the pit stop with the fuel line still attached, numerous drivers crashed, and the black horse who came tops was Fernandes Alonso. Nico Rosberg was second runner-up, and Lewis Hamilton being in second place, didn't look too worried. He's likely to end up as this season's champion anyway.

It's finally over for the drivers. And our road users too, can now heave a sigh of relief. Until next year...
