presentation effects + rant

*warning: completely geeky post ahead (and a bit of self-nagging/ranting)*

i'm proud myself in a way. i'd managed to tweak a script i'd found somewhere online such that i can manage a simple slideshow of a number of images just by adding the images into one folder, and tweaking a value in the javascript. nothing too fancy about it, just that in transitions between the images, i fade out one and fade in the other. all that and it still maintains cross-browser friendliness. i think. the next step is to probably throw in a title/label for each image some how. and maybe further on short descriptions and linkage. sounds fun!

i know it's totally out of context for me to put the link to what i've done here. because it's the site i've been helping to maintain for a while already now. for free, practically... why i've managed to persist this way for so long (probably close to a year already) is simply beyond me. i suppose it's in a way an experimental ground for yours truly to fiddle with techniques i'd otherwise not be able to implement at work. yes yes... i know i MUST be crazy to be thinking about all this geeky techie javascript programming stuff OUTSIDE of work.

ridiculously enough i'd claim it as a hobby of mine. some people collect stamps, some learn dancing, some get occupied with sports, and here i am indoors in front of the computer and not even gaming! what do i do at work? programming in all (some) sorts. what do i do AFTER work? oh i don't know, a bit of programming here and there AS WELL! i know i can do with improving on my skills constantly but this smells awfully like programming is in my blood.

bah. okay enough ranting.

and then i found out i HAVE to submit my taxes this year. advice anyone? it's still my *cough* virginal attempt at filing this sort of stuff. and it's my very first "close encounters with the tax department". any help is greatly appreciated. just don't point me in all different directions thank you very much.

it's just that sometimes, the sudden inspiration engulfs me enough to blog a short post via sms. and with 160 characters (less than commands/email address/subject) there really is limited space for the real content. give a little take a little. this gets counted into my monthly 500 free sms. and i'm using up barely half of my "free" bundle every month anyway. certainly beats having to pay another $5 for their "moblogging" package monthly. :P so when i can find the time+inspiration/urge i'll still blog long posts like this. ^^;;
