SingTel's Asian subscriber base breaches 70 million mark

i was like... wtf?! Singapore alone doesn't have that big a population does it? we only have 4,425,720 people(and counting of course) in the country. four million... that probably makes up slightly more than 5 percent of that 70 million!

after going through that article, you'd find that SingTel is sprawling the region with stakes in telcos in a number of countries...
  • SingTel Optus (Australia)
  • Telkomsel (Indonesia)
  • Bharti (India)
  • Pacific Bangladesh Telecom (duh... Bangla lor)
  • Globe Telecom (The Philippines)
  • Advance Info Service (Thailand)
goodness... which country do you not see in the list? the state company (oh alright they are privatised...) has stretched as far as Australia! but apart from that, it doesn't have anything in Pakistan, Malaysia and Brunei. neither does it have stakes in Myanmar or Vietnam. probably too far away... or they have those countries in their second phase.

but then again i doubt country M would allow them to have stakes at all. there is probably this subtle hostility in a sense without which, SingTel would have had planted their flag first thing on our neighbor's territory.

i can't help but imagine (what if there're) the covert operations the company gets involved in underneath all that corporate image they portray, in all those other countries. oops uh... i know where this is headed. better stop before i get sued... (psst or they invite me go drink kopi because i know too much)
