HTC TouchPro2

Rachel got me a new phone on her birthday. The new TouchPro2 at the PC Show! xD

Renewed my contract and traded in my TouchPro at $400, which seems like a sufficiently good deal.

Thanks honey!

out of orbit...

:(

this is an Obit. for Orbit.

one of rach's rabbit passed away. the black one which her mum refers to as "Orbit" (Orh + rabbit = black dark-coloured (brown/black) rabbit in Hokkien dialect) which is one of the sons of 小白 and 蛋蛋. he had been feeling unwell the past week or so. rach took him to the vet a few days ago and it seems he hasn't improved as of last night. then she just dropped me a message of his passing few minutes ago.

he will be dearly missed by his mummy 蛋蛋 and his brothers 小花 and 小白 Jr. as you can see, somehow he's the only one with a semi-English name among them all...

RIP little black one...

dilemma

well alright it's not too much of a trouble really. i'm looking at the VAS (value-added service) for data bundles from M1. my recent endeavours with using SunSurf sparsely had summoned a tidal wave of retribution in my recent phone bills. my bills have hit past $70! for under 3MB (that's 3 * 1024KB = 3072KB) of data @ $0.01/KB, i'm actually forking out $30 for my sinful ways. i shall now repent and try to work out something that is less insane.

the vanilla flavour: SunSurf Max

the blackberry flavour: BlackBerry Plus

both offer a 1GB monthly data bundle for the same price of $16.05 monthly subscription.

differences:

SunSurf Max allows me a $10.70 registration fee waiver.

BlackBerry Plus allows pushmail via BlackBerry Connect software, available for Windows Mobile. the registration fee still applies.

FYI also, i currently own a HTC TouchPro. i'm not interested in iPhone because it's exclusive to SingTel which for some reason i abhor. and i'm not ruling out the possibility of getting the TouchPro2 when it pops out next once Diamond2 has enough of the limelight.

question is, do i really need the pushmail feature? i'm not exactly doing sales. and i stay indoor within the confines of my measly cubicle space facing my desktop machine anyway. my main accounts are with gmail and hotmail, something which is easily accessible even if i'm on SunSurf. either that, or i can configure the mail on my mobile to check those accounts.

the logical side of me is rooting for the vanilla SunSurf Max due to the registration fee waiver and the convincing theory of me lack of use for pushmail via BlackBerry Connect. there's also gmail that can do almost the same things when it comes to email functionalities...

the vain and geekily pointless side however, is telling me to take up the BlackBerry Plus.

so how? >_<"

UPDATE (11 Jun): i've settled for the SunSurf Max VAS. after giving M1 a ring yesterday afternoon, i had it activated within 2 hours of the call. i gave them a second call just to make sure. let's see how it performs, but i think that for 1GB of data, it's sufficient even if i use about 30MB daily every month. of which, i doubt i can achieve that. yesterday alone, i'd barely hit 2MB.
