F1

Obviously, this post is not about the first Function key on our keyboards. The Formula One race came to town this weekend, and it's been causing quite a huge commotion on the whole island. It's been touted as the first ever F1 night race, first time in Asia, first time in Singapore. And of course, with all the tourists coming in, the government is more than happy to let the speed demons roam our streets for a bit.

The circuit runs in a counter-clockwise direction, encompassing various highlights such as our Singapore Flyer, Suntec City and Marina Square, the Esplanade, old City Hall and even the Anderson Bridge.

It started off on Friday, with the teams doing practice rounds. Then in order to decide who will be taking pole position in the actual race, another round was done on Saturday. Finally, causing quite a stir was what happened today. Ending just hours ago, the race turned out to be rather eventful albeit unfortunate. Felipe Massa scooted off from the pit stop with the fuel line still attached, numerous drivers crashed, and the black horse who came tops was Fernandes Alonso. Nico Rosberg was second runner-up, and Lewis Hamilton being in second place, didn't look too worried. He's likely to end up as this season's champion anyway.

It's finally over for the drivers. And our road users too, can now heave a sigh of relief. Until next year...

Awww!

One of the resident stray cats in my neighbourhood (along my street) seems to have taken a liking to my car! The past few nights, I've noticed it coming up to my vehicle when it doesn't see me (be it whether I'm inside the car or in my house) and purring at it or something...

Just last night as I was returning home from dinner, it was there snooping around as I parked. The moment we left and walked towards my home, I spotted the silly cat brushing/sniffing around the underside of my car! Then when it was time to send Rachel home, we saw it from a distance, chilling underneath my vehicle once more. It of course scooted off to an adjacent Jazz (belonging to my neighbour) as we approached. That's not all! Returning home for my bed, it was once again trying to cozy up to my car even while I was still inside (probably didn't see me) and the cat started meowing at my car! Then it got a bit shocked (paiseh perhaps) to see me looking back. Then it kind of scrambled under my neighbour's car again.

Come this morning, I'm headed for work as usual (where else would I be typing this from? hehe...) when again, I caught the silly pussy cozily seated underneath.

I hope the cat doesn't think my car is a very large cat and tries to seduce/screw my precious vehicle! >_<"

gu ma

"gu ma" is how I address my father's sister. She passed away on Monday in the hospital, due to lung cancer. We attended the wake and it was the funeral today. First time to the Mandai Crematorium, it looked pretty much serene and peaceful there. My relatives were rather sad and there was plentiful crying of course. It's definitely sad to see someone you know leave.

In other news, work was slightly more relaxed this week. At least I managed to be on leave on Friday and aside from one phone call, it was rather peaceful.

work till i drop

Well alright, I guess I really did drop. I fell sick on Tuesday while in the office (after eating an apple!?) and took time out for an MC yesterday.

So there you have it. Push yourself too hard and some times it could just backfire on you. I have been feeling pretty lethargic of late. Will try to sleep it off this weekend first.

Just feels like I'm dying... >_<"

In other news, Rachel has been pretty enthusiastic about eating salmon sashimi indeed. Just this last weekend, we headed to Parkway Parade to chomp on a whole strip of it at the fish market there! Yummy! ;D

achievement of the week

Last week, I believe the most amazing achievement (apart from deciding on which laptop to purchase at COMEX) was a decidedly rare and unprecedented move.

Rachel got convinced to try out salmon sashimi! And she enjoys it! =D Hehe... she's so losing out on the amazing raw food all this while =x
