super extra long weekend!

i was on a course this Wednesday and Thursday, and then i was on leave yesterday (Friday) so technically i was only at work 2 days this week! it was a bit of a rush initially, but i guess things sorted out themselves eventually.

the course was partially on handling customer relations, although strictly speaking, since i'm in the IS dept it doesn't really apply to me. and then they'll say that my colleagues from other departments are my "customers" anyway. it was fun though, and considering that there was assessment AND it was being approved by WDA, which kind of made it all the more worth our time. everyone in my company has to attend, including all the backend staff, myself included no less.

things have been a little rough on the cardiac aspects. mostly me being at fault. but i'm sure we'll pull through. i've been trying to handle situations better, but my emotions get the better of me some times...

in any case, the title is linked to a simple recipe on how to make a mocha vanilla aka frappuccino. from what i've gathered so far, the steps are simply
  1. make coffee (whatever type),
  2. pour into mixer with ice cubes,
  3. blend until mush,
  4. squirt chocolate sauce into serving glass,
  5. pour mush out into the glass,
  6. add whipped cream if desired.
and vĂ³ila! now if only i can get myself a blender, i can try out the above for real...

Singapore Most Beautiful Woman

Viewer Discretion WARNING: Before you click on the play button, I'd strongly advise you to not watch this if you have just eaten your meal. You might experience moments of convulsions and/or a stabbing pain in your eyes.

And yes, from the looks of it this might really be happening in Singapore. Similar case as what I found previously here.

plans in the making

Alrighty, it's been a while. It's about time for a ranting post from me.

About my work:
The situation could be better. I've screwed things up, some quite badly, and I'm still in the midst of fixing things back up. Amazingly though, my bosses have been very nice to me throughout the whole ordeal. They've been taking a lot of flak for this, although they'd justify it with the fact that we're short-handed big time and hence causing more chances of errors popping up.

About my career:
Still, I've got this feeling if I stay any longer I'd be in a position some people call "hentakaki", which means (possibly in Bahasa Melayu) to remain in the same position without possibility of an advancement, for quite a long time. There's a couple of reasons for this, the above hiccup notwithstanding. I've got a least 3 layers of heads up above me that needs to move up further before there's even any hint of it being my turn: the IT manager, my boss the Asst Mgr, and 2 more experienced colleagues. To top it all off, I'm literally the youngest member of the team there! In any case, if I want to move up (along with the salary), I'll have to move on. This made me wonder: is it time yet to move? Let me just put it out there that, my current plan is to stay for another 1-2 years. Then we'll see what comes next. This isn't waiting for it to rain, though. This is where the next part of this comes into play...

About my next steps:
An MBA. I'm planning on taking one. Yes I've been ranting on and on recently about taking one but haven't really started yet. I'm still shopping around to decide on a proper one. If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate them most wonderfully. I don't want to take a course wondering if I'd paid too much for something that's a waste of time (worse, it might not be recognised, whatever that really means), versus a course that albeit is "fulfilling" academically and mentally, yet takes ages to complete. Something in between I suppose.

Side shows:
Exploration of other options to venture into on the side. This gets a bit tricky, as it'd consume a portion of my time aside from my day job (as will the MBA) hence may affect my significant other. It's a stretch, but I'd consider this as a long term projection.

About her: Everything has been peachy so far. We've got our ups and downs, but no bumps in the road we can't even out. I'm sure that when push comes to shove (work or otherwise), she'd be on the ball adequately.

And that was the summary of my life so far. You can't get any more briefed than that.
