Configuring my V3x
I'd just spent a good portion of the day trying to configure out how the MMS settings for my V3x should be setup! For anyone looking for something interesting to read, you can skip this post.
Cutting to the chase, I got it done manually, based on the settings placed on the M1 website for their prepaid MCard. To anyone out there who needs just as much help, here it is: you need to setup the settings for MMS in 2 places. This is not counting the automated GPRS settings you receive via sms by dialling your phone model "Vx3p" (the 'p' stands for it being prepaid) and sending to 109. Apparently there is this bunch of web sessions under Main Menu>WebAccess>Web Sessions. You have to configure one of the 10 choices as "M1_MMS" (or anything you fancy) and also everything else as per their settings for the post-paid here. Everything, up to the GPRS Access Point Name (APN) that is. I followed the instructions on the prepaid page instead.
I believe they have a maximum number of entries for this area at 3. Either create a new one or pick an existing entry to change.
Considering I wasn't too well-versed with the Motorola handphone operating system (and the lack of instructions and usability thereof) it took a while. Their site wasn't too helpful and I was having problem configuring the stuff automatically via their sms settings update. Google was not too helpful either. Everything else came up in relation to other telcos, but nothing local to Singapore. And then I stumbled upon the Motorola phone hacking communities. I was this close to resorting to hex editing for removing the redundant WebSessions I had on the phone. Fortunately it was too painstaking that I ended up manually keying in the settings instead. Which was probably the wiser choice any given day, to not meddle with things I hardly understand.
Oh and the origins of this phone... well... I got the V3x for my dad, then swopped it from his postpaid SIM card with my mum's prepaid one. And because the credits in the prepaid is expiring (after 6months) in a couple of days, my mum decided to let me fully utilise it until I top it up yet again. You can see how little of the phone my parents use, given their age, so this prepaid is unfortunately a vicious cycle of topping up and "fully utilising" at the end of 6 months. There's about $50+ worth of credits on it! And yes, I'm using it concurrently with my Dopod 838Pro. :)

- GPRS APN: miworldmcard
- Username: 65
- Password: it gotta be blank, empty it!

- Service Name: enter whatever "M1_MMS_Mcard"
- Server Name: http://172.16.14.20:8002/ (from the prepaid page)
- Web Session Name: as per what you edited in the first half

a very belated v-day post

I took the pics just one day before v-day... the ring and rabbid plushies are meant for rachie of course!
The ring took me a couple of days to conceptualise, prototype and basically produce a completed ring. It's meant to be a simple silver ring with a brilliant cut diamond on it. I'd bought unique paper especially for the final product. The silver ring is of a shiny silver 120mg paper and the ring is a white paper also of 120mg. Our typical A4 paper are around 80mg, so you do the math. The diamond was glued on to the ring by creating a shallow recessed basin in the ring, and flooding it with glue (I use wood glue throughout) and then sticking the diamond in and leave it to dry up overnight, just to make sure it stays put.

shitty little piles
I've been working till quite late recently. It's not healthy, I know, but if that's what it takes to get more things done within deadlines...
Anyway, since I can't find time to blog as often nowadays, I'm just going to tag the sites I come across and throw in more description on them. So at least you know I'm still alive and surfing hehe...

Chevrolet Corvette Coupe on show in Singapore
oh cool! they've brought this into town for show! although they probably won't be selling it for the time being, it's still an interesting gimmick to bring some buzz to their range of models that's available on our island. the corvette is quite a heritage from the States!

Mitsubishi unveils the Prototype-S
woot! new variant on the Lancer! but why... why... why oh why... why must it be yet another hatchback?! i've just about had it with all these hothatch/sportback cars out on the market. personally i'd much prefer sedans but it seems that the trend is people going for these butt-less vehicles that's suppose to be sportier despite the fact that it'd result in less bootspace and in case of a collision, there's less buffer between the rear passengers and the offending car.
hopefully in 5 years' the trend changes and they'd start coming up with something else that'd catch my fancy. that's about when my loan is complete... xD

Novint Falcon
Check out this new game controller!
It comes with force feedback and you can actually control movement on all 3 axes in a 3-dimensional environment. I'd say it's a bit like a joystick. But instead of moving on either the X- or Y-axis, the Falcon also allows movement along the Z-axis. This is akin to having a joystick that allows you to move up and down while still maintaining the pitch and yaw motion at the same time.
Looks fun, but hopefully the whole gaming industry picks up on it soon or else it might end up a flop by being too ahead of its time. Fortunately to get started, they've brought Quake4 into their arena by proposing an added advantage for gamers who want one-up in the game.
