Phone Scams Impersonating Supreme Court Staff And Police Officers

ok, time for serious stuff people. you have been cautioned.

Police would like to alert the public of a phone scam where callers impersonate themselves as police officers or staff from the Supreme Court. The impersonators would direct them to attend court or request for transfer of monies and attempt to induce their victims into parting with money, presumably to exonerate them from involvement in criminal cases or for failure to attend court hearings. In reality, the victims were not involved in any such criminal or court proceedings.

Over the past 3 weeks, Police have received 35 reports by victims who have received such calls, of which a victim have parted with about S$10,000.

During the course of Police work, investigators will sometimes inform members of the public over the phone on Court dates and appointments at the police station for police statements. However, police will never ask for money to be deposited into a bank account. If such requests for property deposits or personal information disclosure are received, they should be reported to the police immediately.

They may take different forms but these scams are designed to cheat victims into parting with their money. The public is advised to be wary. When in doubt, the public is advised to verify the caller's identity with the agency or organisation the caller claims to be from.

flu jab update

arghh... i'm beginning to feel the numbness of it all...

my left upper arm feels lifeless already!

all that, and even though it was my very efficient colleague who did it on me. she jabbed me and the process was under 3 seconds! oh well it was painless enough i guess...

stay tuned!

i just took a flu jab offered by my company at a subsidised rate and i understand from various sources that i might experience some side effects over the next few months or so.

so hey i guess i have better justification for more MCs this time of the year now! xD

stay tuned... if i'm on mc the next few times, you know what i can blame it on!

been so flooded at work it's unbelievable. and it's with my boss returned from his trip to japan. =.="

rabbid dopod

it's a whole bunch of photos i just took. yes my dear darling bought for me a delectable dopod 838pro. it's a pda phone with a full qwerty keyboard, stylus and wifi as well. the 2MP camera is standard on any pda phone, can't get any higher but i don't mind.

in return, i made this rabbid for her! i'd found the paper craft site with the template for it, printed it, and assembled it by hand! there was initially a smaller version i had which is still in the works, but is much more difficult because everything to do with it will have to be miniaturised. and it's already quite small as it already is!

my thumbdrive is too clever for Windows Vista

That's right. My SanDisk Cruzer Micro 1GB Smartdrive is incompatible with my office desktop PC. Apparently I've dug out forums (here, here and here) all over stating incompatibility issues that will force me to go home to my WinXP machine, use their U3 removal tool to remove the bundled software on the thumbdrive that makes it smart.

In essence, my SmartDrive thumbdrive has to become a DumbDrive before Vista can read it! wtf?!?

Miss Teen USA South Carolina 2007 with Subtitles

I'm sure this has travelled all over the web by now, but I find it hilarious nonetheless.

Question: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the United States on a world map. Why do you think this is?

Miss Teen South Carolina: "I personally believe the U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh...people out there in our nation don't have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and...I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., err, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children..."

I share the pain of the person who transcribed the above which I found here... *smacks forehead*
