this is all rather sudden. i've recently felt that somehow i'm experiencing this small wave of requests for me to develop websites for small companies. call it moonlighting if you will, but i don't get to do much designing in my day job. i find it interesting how this phenomenon has kept up as a sideline for me. i don't earn as much from them but it seems like quite a lucrative hobby to keep. not that i'd want to spoil the market so of course i'd be charging a considerable sum. but given that i'm considered a "freelancer" in this case, perhaps not as costly as an actual web development company.
i'm happy about this. :)

what's current stuck in my head
say it repeatedly with increased tempo:
how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

you know you are stressed/frustrated when...
you start having a monologue. in the middle of debugging codes at work. with the computer.

Problem #1
the slang of foreign talents here are rather hard to understand... Can't get what they say without slides sia!

Smoot: So we are looking.
this is a post from some local blogger... which i must confess is pretty amusing, considering the situations she was placed in. it's about her ex-secretary (who had since left on her own accord) and it's one of those stories that would have made top ten on clientcopia. haha...

super intensive week!
it's unanimous. everyone of our guys have agreed that this ICT's been really tight and intensive. this week had been super xiong on all of us. physically and mentally taxing. and to be honest, i don't think any of us believed that everything they threw at us was relevant. thank goodness that everything will be over by tomorrow! seriously man, i'd think i rather myself be at work than in camp with all of that being forced down our throat.
an analogy i told to someone in my ns bunch... my unit... it's like lotus being bought over by proton. and then like having proton requiring all the people working in lotus to adopt all the crappy engineering/design ideas instead. not that i'm aware of any structural changes at the real proton/lotus though... just an analogy.
i'm so sorry to my darling rachel... it's very unfortunate my ICT fell on the same week as her birthday! :(

Lunch for two
I'd cooked for rachel today. For lunch. Because her birthday is on
tuesday and i've got ict this week. I'll post the pics she took
earlier on another time, but for the record, the menu goes something
like this...
- prawn salad laced with thousand island dressing and orange slices,
- chunky fried mushrooms lathered in black pepper sauce,
- black pepper chicken chop accompanied by rice,
- and to finish up, a tub of gelato ice cream...
mmm how's that sound? The dishes were a tad on the salty side but were
edible over all... XD

salty donuts anyone?
a colleague of mine had a ridiculous thing happen to him this morning. his wife had bought 2 sugar-coated donuts, one for each of them. so he brings his breakfast of a donut to the pantry and starts to take his first bite. then he started giving us this weird facial expression. it wasn't exactly anything about being unhygienic, having queer additional ingredients to the confectionery though. so he asked me to try. i nipped a very small piece and ate it...
OHMYGOODNESS!!! it was super strange alright. it was freaking salty! as it'd turned out, the shop assistant had sprinkled salt instead of sugar over the donuts to coat them. and because most of the salt crystals had melted by now, the donut was practically "marinated" in the salt so much, it tasted like chewing down on seawater. yes, it was THAT salty. not a hint of sweetness, just plain saltiness. talk about chocolate salty balls man!
after that he gave a call to his wife to warn her not to eat hers, especially since she's pregnant. so the wife heads down to the shop for an exchange. the moment she stepped in, the shop attendant immediately apologised profusely without her even having to say anything. the assistant who was in charge of sprinkling sugar on the confectionery, that was delivered to them without the sugar-coating, had sprinkled salt on HER donuts instead of sugar. they then realised afterwards when they were continuing their mass production that there was a mistake! but my colleague's wife was already long gone...
the amount of saltiness was unimaginable seriously! ughhhh!!!

observation of the day
i have a personal tendency to use analogies quite frequently whenever i have to explain certain things to other people. otherwise it'd be like telling a joke without giving the punchline at the end. oops i did it again! =x

lazy start
i think i'm procrastinating on my tasks on hand during work for this week. mostly because i'll be going away for ICT for the next one week. haha... but of course there is an extent to this. i DID do *some* work at least...
and yes i realised i haven't been blogging too frequently of late. in comparison to what i'd done previously, one post a day? this is a stark contrast indeed. but at least i'm keeping my blog going unlike many people i know of! muahaha so there!
there was recently a sideline job introduced to me. a web thingy. so i'm working on it, and seriously... the phrase rings true indeed. the phrase that i've heard other web developers hear about all the time. users have no idea what they want. *sigh* all in the name of experience ba... bah...
