whee another list!

ok it's been a while but here's a list i just thought up of. it's about a bunch of things i would like to work on as some sort of mini projects. i'd probably procrastinate on most of them for most of the time, but i'd like to put them down somewhere anyway, in case i change my mind and decide to delay no longer and get down to executing them...
  • get a phone charger for the in-vehicle 12V socket
  • install linux on rach's ipod mini =x
  • setup an sms gateway on my home desktop pc so i can sms from anywhere with my own mobile and i can accomplish tasks such as blogging directly, without the use of GPRS. hence paying less even if i want to blog on the go, since i've got a bunch of free smses i get monthly anyway. and i may even decide to allow this utility to carry out other tasks like download stuff via bittorrent etc kekeke...
  • implement Ajax on my blog (or somewhere i can play around with) such as my chat/shoutbox feature for me to have fun with JSON/servlet communication
  • get into the Java-RPC(RMI)-JSON-Javascript architecture
  • stop motion animation short film (yes i'm still thinking about it)
  • modify my old acer laptop to recycle its lcd panel + whatever i can reuse on my car (or future car) to have a in-car computer system (i know this sounds far fetched)
i think that's just about enough for tonight... keke

i'm glad it's the weekend once again. was just really hanging on for the past 3 days for this weekend. still in a semi-holiday mood you see...

*wheeee!*

good food, good old classmates

i had a great lunch today. not that i didn't have to pay a cent (had to fork out $28) but the food was quite tasty, despite given the fact that it was halal and thus the shark's fin soup was not exactly fin-ish... i'd enjoyed it nevertheless. i was having this lunch of mine at this restaurant called MaSinThai down in Eunos area along Upper Changi Road. no prizes for guessing what countries their name is made up of. it was practically an 8-course meal which was certainly enjoyable. we'd even bought our own yu sheng. they said they were out of stock initially, but by the time they squeezed one out for us our guy had already bought one. i think this is better off because seriously, their yu sheng had carrot shreds that were really thick! i'd say it's comparable to eating grass >_> and to top it off, the reason we paid (less) was that our "towkay" (read: assistant manager who is in charge of our IS dept because the company is being stingy/unable to find a replacement IT manager) had picked up a majority of the tab. yippee to us!

i'd also met up with some old classmates from my secondary school after work today. this fella i knew is living in Bukit Batok and i drove allllllll the way there. i certainly gave him face for travelling so far. >_> the people were still friendly. i just hope i wasn't too... erh... cold or something. and it's nice to meet up with some of them (well not everyone showed up/were contactable) after... i think it's been 6 years or so since the last gathering i'd attended. i'd heard that 2 girls in my class were married already! and one is already in her second trimester with her first child! goodness time flies... seriously. nowadays, it's getting hard not to start admitting that i'm getting old. i know there're tons of people who are waaaay older than i am... but if you look back and see that my secondary school days were so far away, you ought to admit that i've come a long way since then. besides, i'm closing to a year in my first job.

*i swear i won't...*

cny = mood to work -100

>_> it's barely the third day of the chinese/lunar new year and i'm heading back to work already. ho hum... i'll suck it in and push on for the next three days. it's been (considered) a fruitful holiday this year hehe... hope everyone enjoyed this festive season. i mean come on, anything that's >$50 in value of red packets in total is worth something right? works for me. the only damage i got out of this super long weekend (i took last friday off) was an ulcer that seems cooperative enough.

happy cny to all! ^^

observation

i realised from my past number of posts, that i seem to be having some bit of time to make entries in my blog some time in the wee hours of friday mornings... guess that's when i decide it's time to sit back and take a break as i watch the weekend arrive. ^^;;

there goes another bout of busy period

to cut to the chase, here's wishing everyone a belated valentine's day and a forthcoming happy chinese new year. been very busy at work of late.

speaking of which, valentine's day was... a bit of a rush for me this year. in more ways than one. i was somewhat thoughtless as i'd originally intended to arrange for a bouquet to be sent to rach's office quite ahead of time. unfortunately it slipped my mind and i did not confirm my order. so i ended up rushing around for quite a bit to get some things done. i luckily managed to get hold of a friend of mine whom i knew was also getting some things for his girl. so i hitched on to his bouquet order. and to top it off, we did our own customisation of on the flower arrangements. i'd initially asked him if he knew somewhere i could get a couple of palm-sized mini cooper models for. he liked that idea and decided to use it too, but on other car models. so we basically each had a couple of miniature toy cars at the end of some bendable craftworks metal flower stalks, stuck into the bouquet we each had for our ladies. i'm sorry rachel, that i had to lie so much. i didn't tell you i was meeting him over lunch on the 13th to get the stuff, that i could only pick you up after work after i get home to get hold of the car, that i didn't get anything for you, that i didn't quite intend to celebrate valentine's with you, that i'd snuck up to your office to pass the flowers to your colleague at the reception. but i hope you like the setup. :)

on a geeky note, i think i'd mention this before but i'll probably just bring it up again anyway. i've been dabbling in Ajax and JSON. they are quite tricky at times, but with the google web toolkit being shoved at me soon, i think i still feel more comfortable with JavaScript. ok, geekiness over.

zai/mask/alma

we had a new guy come in to join our team today. he's from china, but don't get me wrong now. i must say he appears to be pretty much "zai". in plain terms he looks the competent sort. of course we'll still have to see if he can really hold his own the way he presents himself at first glance. i'm not trying to judge him here but who doesn't want to work with somebody able-bodied enough? i must say the team i'm in is working in a pretty friendly environment here. i dare say IS is one of the larger groups that goes out for lunch more frequently than any other departments where i work. i should say that we're rather tightly knit, blended in an amicable culture with a hint of cold^ jokes to mix.

i've been trying to "acquire" the MASK tv cartoon series for some time now. it's only half done but i hope it won't take too too too long&. i'd started since 1 Feb around this unearthly hour* for the complete set, for which i think it's quite worth it. i'd say it's under one of those gray areas of legality. i mean... come on it hasn't even been aired anywhere/found/sold anywhere (besides ebay) on this island in a proper set for ages now! it's been like 20 years since the series aired$ already... i'm feeling all nostalgically old-schoolish about this right now heh... let me know if you'd like me to share this with you (or some kid who hasn't even heard of this cartoon at all!) although i'm seriously considering putting this up on ebay for locals to get man... i'm not saying it's lucrative but for people who aren't too good in locating such things online and doubt the reliability of offshore online orders, this is one good alternative for them. and hey it's for the effort of me downloading too eh? keke... bah we'll see about that.

in other news... i'd just acquired something real new for rach. from a very far away place. it's for her birthday (i know, it's waaaaay early but the chance couldn't be missed) so i hope she likes it. curious? go probe her about it... =x kekeke#

^ - sarcastic/cynical/narcissistic/everyone's-a-critic kind of jokes.

& - i'm about 57% into the downloading as i blog about it. my combined downloading isn't much to boast about anyway. =\

* - 12.42am to be more precise, at least that was what was stamped on the creation date/time on the first file of the series.

$ - according to theflashsite, it'd aired from 1985 to 1987.

# - oh nothing much... that's about it of my cliché usage of all these footnotes. LOL!

@#$!

curse the fella of an unnamed race. i shall swear at the person without making specific references to his ethnicity to maintain the racial harmony in this country. but the idiot was a real dick head. some remarks are totally unsolicited and uncalled for but these people do it anyway. he'll be condemned to being single until he's 60 after which he finds a wart-ridden ex-prostitute for a wife who subsequently ditches him one week after their marriage because she just cheated him of his life savings. then he can live his remaining 30 years in misery on government handouts because he's so poor and unemployed (at 30 and penniless with such lack of education to be calling people insulting names he'll definitely be unemployed) he would have to go join those 50-dollar men in little india to survive in his 1-room flat in . he'll be glad he isn't staying under some bridge, because the government wouldn't let him. if he does get married he'll wife will have a gangbanging affair because he can't ever get it up which frustrates his wife so much she'd attempt to get him killed "accidentally" more than once just to get her hands on his insurance money. oh wait, he can't afford to take out a policy anyway so she'd be better off remarrying so he'll end up alone. and as he walks his solitary road aimlessly in the middle of the night, a bunch of young kids comes along and beats him up just because, and calls him all the nastiest names that i'd never even heard of. then he'll curl up and cry on the pavement and starts to pee because he got so scared (adding on the fact that he can't control his bladder much) he'll wish himself better off dead.

*cough*

on a more civilised level... if i'd ever find this person out the first thing i'll do is take a few photos of his face, his buddies (if any), his vehicle (if any) and record down in video all that is happening. just so that if anything happens, he'll be the first person the police will invite for coffee.

*ahem*

nitwit dumbfucks.
