nice good food

it's gonna be father's day and my family went out for dinner earlier on. we headed down to my cousin's bf's bistro at beach road cos i'd booked a table with them yesterday. i did it by sms! haha nah i merely messaged my cousin. but boy was it crowded. business was brisk for them today. i'm still burping from all that food. got "pai kuat wong" spare ribs, "gu lou yok" sweet & sour pork, lemon chicken, fried tofu, curry fish head and it was so filling! all ten of us (including the maid and ryan) could barely finish the remaining kangkong in the end.

ok so these past days i'd been busy with work, with only a bit of breathing space yesterday after that last round of tests completed on thursday. but it was still a busy day no less.

for the most parts of today, other than the dinner together with my family, the rest of the time was spent on gaming! xD rach had a penchant for the super mario games from nintendo that was originally played on the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) that was all the rage when we were much younger. sadly they didn't release any of their titles to PC or other platforms. so we have to resort to finding alternatives. given that decades have passed since it was first released, the copyright would mostly have been gone *or so i believe* so i managed to locate an emulator for their SNES ROM games. no idea what those terms mean? well an emulator is a program on a regular computer that can imitate the functionalities of another computer. so this means i can download an emulator of the SNES for my pc, load in a rom game (read: a single file that stores the whole game) into the program and i can start playing the vintage games on my desktop! yes, even arcade games of the last era! to top it off, we bought for ourselves a simple gamepad controller from logitech. with the whole setup, i just need to run the game, plug in the gamepad, connect my pc to the tv and my pc is practically behaving like any old game console! xD so fun... plus with so many varities of game consoles, my pc is even more flexible than any single one of them! hehehe... if you are interested, take a look at romnation eh?

i know some people had already been playing with rom games for a long time. i did too, but i stopped after getting bored. so i guess it's thanks to rach i'm back into it. haha...

*boo!*
