divine traffic lights

silly it may seem, but there is this one thing that i do this quite frequently. and it's probably because i drive often. i very often determine how the rest of my day or even the following day will be like while driving. and i try to do this by following the signals from the traffic lights i drive past. it's probably an OCD behaviour but i tend to believe that if the traffic lights are all green (aka green wave) for me for a few junctions, or better yet, all the way home, or to wherever my destination is, it'd mean my day will be plain-sailing. if i come across few red lights at small junctions it could mean small hiccups which are still tolerable. if the red lights are at major junctions my day may not be as smooth, and the worst would be if i hit red lights at every single junction! that could spoil the rest of my day or even the next...

that said, i have come to realise a pattern in traffic lights. given on a stretch of road going straight, if you start off at one junction from a red light, and travel within the speed limit, by the time you reach the next junction, the chances are higher for you to actually chance upon the green light there, and so on.

hence, the moral of the story here is: let things take their course, as there is no point rushing things because even if you do rush yourself, the matters won't resolve sooner, you only wear yourself out earlier by getting anxious longer.

*my flawed judgment*
