chicky pox

rach has chicken pox. no, she hasn't contracted it before. and yes, i already had my fair share during my primary school days. the doctor had given her 2 weeks' medical leave for it. call it shiok, but i think it's still kinda tough. her work is calling for her and i figure it'd pile up real quick. on top of that, her bosses had banned her from work. tsk.

can't imagine if i were to get something (*touchwood choy choy pui*) that requires me to stay at home. i'd have to work from home and access my office pc from here. it's not a bad thing to be able to do that, but the environment is different.

i'd heard from my colleagues who are already married with kids, that they feel better off working in the office, away from their kids. so understandably, they would probably find it exceedingly challenging to work from home. kids noisy, looking for attention, other distractions etc... makes you wonder what's with all that hype few years back that companies had on promoting SOHO/telecommuting. i'm not sure if people are still into this method of working, but personally i'd probably find it easier to work in a regular office environment. of course not every job can be done that way. but working from home would deprive myself (in my opinion) of a chance to get away from work, just for the day, so i can rest my body and take my mind off work. my dear friends ter and jason are probably more resilient than me in this sense. they'd been at it (working from home and stuff) for all this while since i was back from australia.
