the short stroll with a century egg

so ok it was raining quite heavily in the east today. so our original plan was scrapped. we initially had wanted to go east coast park to take a short stroll in the afternoon. no we're not nuts. we were intending on bringing out one of rach's rabbits along! the younger female little hopper was brought along in her pink plastic picnic basket (which by the way, costs waaaaay cheaper than those designed-for-pets-so-it-costs-more animal carriers...) on rach's lap while i drove. and her name is DanDan. the naughty boingboing had been frightfully impish at home, or so i was told, hence the affectionate term for Huai Dan for her. it was a challenge to pin the bunny down and putting the leash on, but it was quite adorable how she hopped around!

anyway, it rained at ECP. so we hopped over to Mount Faber! i was actually suggesting Labrador Park, but on hearing that rach hadn't gone up Mt Faber (and neither did i for the past 10 years or more) we headed up the unconvincing mountain. on wheels of course. well it did drizzle, but the rain was not a bother. it was rather the insects (read: mosquitoes) that were annoying. but then again, the mozzies there weren't too clever as i'd managed to step on a number of them circling DanDan/her basket. there was even this blue beetle thing that decided it wanted to rest on me so it landed on my singlet. until rach waved it away in an eek-ish manner. =x

the bunny was an attention seeker, believe me. we were on a path that somehow had a lot of people walking past us giving the rabbit strange/amazed/awwww-ish/gushing stares. DanDan had a tendency to hop a bit and stop if she wanted to you see, so we really couldn't make her budge if she didn't want to. rach was rather tired by the time we left the place, but it was fun nevertheless. at least these people know she's a rabbit. beats the kid on a pram at ECP hands down. he'd thought that DanDan was a cat. >_>

next week, it'd probably be xiaohui's turn. he's been left alone for a while now... poor fella. xD

oh, and why century egg? DanDan aka an egg, can bounce? tiao pi + huai dan = pi dan = century egg! xD
