munich

i must say, this bloody movie (quite literally) was a long one. accordingly they claimed it was filmed based on true events. although it was a bit abstract/artistic, it was a worthwhile motion picture to catch. apart from eric bana's on-screen sex scenes with his wife, everything else in the script was quite remarkable.

the show basically put the audience through the mentality, thoughts and feelings of the main cast, which supposedly are "good" people helping their country. but that's just a perspective. others may see them as just another terrorist cell operating under instructions from their government. it was not obvious that the film highlighted the saying of "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" by contrasting how these people behaved in the early 70s. i must say there were a number of disturbing scenes. but i suppose more of such scenes would already have been censored by the authorities... it's rated m-18, but scenes showing people getting killed were rather graphic, but to a point of realism.

having done my ns, i suppose many of the scenes reminded me of various points to take note of, in relation to what i'd learnt in the army. i would say it was a war movie, but of the unconventional nature. the conflicting factions battle each other through asynchronous warfare in urban set-ups practically in broad day-light. i'm sure steven spielberg had meant for it to make a statement about the state of the world in constant conflict as it already is now.

darn i'm reading too much into the movie. the shallow point of view would be, it was rather excessively artistic for me to appreciate. but there were highs and lows throughout the show. point to note: don't watch the show too late at night. it lasts 163minutes. that's practically close to 3 hours long. it's 4am and i barely got home.

oh and if you are still with me, thanks for reading this whole chunk of a movie review. i can't imagine if you had even understood that psychedelic mindbender of a critique of the show. you probably don't need to know this either, but i just got a job.

*flower power? hell yes! =x *
