we watched 2 movies today! omg i think i preferred the hitchhiker's guide movie to episode 3 of star wars.
let's do a brief recap of HHG first. i like the dolphins. and when they changed into sofas. HAHAHA... it was basically quite nonsensical i must say. but i enjoyed it. and the part when they had to *not* think while running over a bit of a desert. and also... MARVIN omg that robot is so cute and adorable... hope they'll come up with a toy for it soon! cute until bth... darn it it's lovable haha... and it saved the humans too! XD it was quite an interesting "ride".
alright next on, starwars episode 3: return of the sith. a lot of techy footwork and quite a bit of battle scenes going on, and also not to forget the battle between obi-wan kenobi and general grievous (or however you spell that)... the saddest moment in the show was (WARNING: SPOILER... ) when the jedi's were killed when they were betrayed. i don't know if many people realise this by now (before the start of epi3), that darth sidious was *that* fella. i figured that out by the end of the epi2. and they made it somewhat obvious (to me at least). so anyway another battle scene, and (WARNING: YET ANOTHER SPOILER) padme was in some way killed (indirectly) by anakin. unfortunately. and the cool part was when obi-wan dismembered anakin! and he was still alive... yikes gross... and he eventually became the thing he was... darth vader! rather exciting, but as jason said, it kind of leaves you hanging.
the movie theatre was of average size. HHG didn't have a lot of people watching it. there were only 5 people in the theatre, including the 2 of us. probably because it was at 12.30pm. school day perhaps. and subsequently we headed to the beach for a while. it was BREEZY AND FRIGGING WINDY! i took some shots... and we (i suggested actually) went to the lighthouse. it was a short drive further down, and once again it was even more WINDY... the view was amazingly pretty... pretty amazing... you can look out to the PACIFIC and it was just a vast blue on blue... the sky meets the ocean... and we noticed it was indeed with a slight gradient. the earth does seem a bit round. or it could be just our imagination. technically speaking, when we were looking out to the ocean into the vastness ad infinitum, we were in some way looking to the atmosphere of the planet are we not? since our vision does not bend and stuff.
alright. so we had our fill of movies. our dinner was at this Chef's Choice chinese/cambodian restaurant nearby. the food was average i guess. i ordered Kung Po chicken with rice. their chicken didn't look like chicken at all. i could hardly tell the chicken from the rest of the veg and stuff on the plate. i didn't finish the last serving of rice in my bowl. for $15 it was probably alright.
so now we're home and i'm hanging loose for the moment. will try to study tomorrow. just got a load of tips from a friend. helpful indeed. he sent me a whole 43 pages of the 74 questions posed by a subject. from a friend from the previous year's exam. indeed amazing.
and on thursday, we'll probably hit sydney for a daytrip!
*STRAIGHT ahead please*

movies!
we're going down to the wollongong cinema! we'll be catching starwars episode 3 tomorrow. after we finish watching Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or more affectionately known as HHGTTG... or HHG or HG or HTG... whatever... but yup we'll be catching both the shows tomorrow at the local cinema! *rejoice* so yes we'll catch them both, with 1.5hrs break in between, which we can probably use to shop around the mall and basically waste the time away there. price? A$5.20 per ticket for weekdays, student concession. A$1 for online booking per ticket. A$(5.20+1) x 2 pax x 2 movies = A$12.40 x 2 movies = A$24.80 total! for us 2, 2 movies, at one go!
this is the first day of our study week. and i woke up erh... 2pm. just trying to study but the questions aren't exactly straight answers to figure out. oh well... got the rest of the week (minus tomorrow afternoon)
oh and i just cleaned up my desktop in a way. i downloaded this gadget thingy called Object Dock so it's pretty neat! it looks like the Mac OS interface, with the magnifying thingy. and i can throw my bunch of more commonly used programs there to get easy access. and it hides away easily.
i also tried using Opera, the web browser. it's supposedly the fastest browser around with the least bugs, but my blog showed up broken so i decided against adopting it and hence uninstalled it. the other thing i don't like about it is its ads annoying at the top(you can pay to get rid of the ads). at least firefox doesn't have that.

to laugh or to cry
jus pretty much done with a report. due... in another 15mins. but i'd submitted it already. online that is. which is pretty convenient. so i sent it in for the group and that was that. oh yeah and a separate document for my peer assessment too.
ah well... we'd practically given up on those parts. the other guy did his parts yeah. plenty of content. well for some of the parts there was sufficient content. not all. ho hum. we sat down for a short while after dinner and discussed what to do with the wordings 'cos we were kind of sian with doing a clean up job for him already. so we did a quick one and i got back to tidying up everything. and i sent it in.
*rant rant rant* so this is officially the start of the study week. we'll see what programmes we can come up with for ourselves between studying.
*one little 2 little 3 little...*

ladida
this report is taking ages to finish. i'm trying to understand what my group mate is trying to say in his sections. so i can rephrase it properly and coherently in the document. and it's near completion fortunately. at least can hand it in tomorrow.
in any case, we're both (jason and i) more or less going to give him not too high marks in the peer assessment... =_=
i'm just rolling along. monday will be the start of study week. happy studying! no more lessons! w00t!!!

the shortest lecture ever
well yes that happened. i woke up 810, and rushed to the lesson. they had us do an assessment on one of the lecturers. and then the lecturer gave everyone a sheet with the questions to the exam on it. yup. all 74 of them too! catch: only 10 will appear in the actual exam. uh. no answers given either. so we've got to find it ourselves. neat. and the lecture theatre was extraordinarily crowded too. but that changed in a jiffy because we were done for the day. i headed home and did my work. well alright, i had rosti for lunch. and i watched finding nemo. -sob sob- it was touching at some parts. and i can't believe i watched the show harharhar...
and apparently i 'd been actively reading news today too. plenty of articles i'd been sharing here.
*do not fear for i'll be here~*

something new in town
do you know what is a segway? if you had heard of the name before, you should know it's a neat piece of technology that includes a gyroscope built into the vehicle. it's coming to singapore and perhaps you can check it out for yourself if it's worth the purchase!
want to know how exactly does a segway human transporter look like? their site is here. if my memory serves me well, they came out with the first model somewhere in 2002 or 03. correct me if i'm wrong on that one.

i bring u more news!
u probably don't need to read all these but i found them interesting.
the head of the muslim society in australia had offered to be replacement of the australian taken hostage by terrorists. the hostage is sick. but the government isn't too interested in his offer. while i think it is rather noble of him, it is also not wrong of the government to not accept his offer. they wouldn't want to be seen as willing to sacrifice one for another right? read here
oh and i for one had never heard of this one before. didn't know there was a House Rabbit Society in Singapore! they are asking people not to abandon their pet rabbits... here
and the singapore zoo hs brought back some giraffes. 2 by ship and one by plane. wow... talk about the flight of the baringo...

new news!
NEW YORK - Nokia Corp. is straying from its core cellular business with its first non-phone mobile device, a handheld Internet tablet for accessing the Web around the home over a wireless broadband connection.
would it make me feel any better?
i had my tutorial today, and i had to print out the report i was rushing on last night. i sent an email out with the report requesting for comments from the rest of the group. perhaps it was too rushed... none replied. except for only the indonesian guy who studied in ACS previously. the other 2 chinese guys... didn't. one said he didn't have the chance to check his mail this morning. the other... no idea where he went. didn't come for lesson.
so the lesson only consisted of one presentation from 2 guys. that was it. and we got back our "test" of sorts we had several weeks back. i got 5 out of 5. and to think, i had barely an inkling of what the topic wanted us to write about. so getting full marks was... i'm not sure. of course i'm happy it was full marks. the other side of things is that, well it's only 5 marks. but of course 5 marks should be considered as quite a lot over here as part of the subject grading. but in any case, this subject is full of bull, and most of time it seems there're a lot of self-justification and ramblings made logical only by the imaginations of the person holding the pen. not very satisfying. but hey, it's one subject after all... what can i say? can't possibly say no to getting full marks eh... considering the tutor didn't give anyone an impression he bothered much.
in other news, i'll have to be working on another report due sunday midnight, and will be waiting for the other group member to reply once he's done with his assignment due tomorrow. i gave him until saturday. wonder if he can meet my deadline. i have my reservations. how do we submit on sunday midnight you ask? why online of course.
mmm the rest of the day was either to do with the report, or i'd been surfing around. you can tell, by the link to chooken. that comic strip's just started but i think it's got potential!
*it was a dark and stormy night...*

assignment
yup. another deadline. working on it now. due tomorrow. am compiling the whole bloody document from 3 other group members, plus myself. symptoms of headaches are induced by the following:-
[edit: oh by the way, i had a test today, on database. i sucked big time. i realised after handing up... just hope i'll pass... really makes one doubt the ability of oneself.]
*sorry i've been busy*
- lack of referencing, hence working on it now
- typographical mistakes
- grammatical errors
- politically incorrect statements
- formatting inconsistencies
- repetition of points

got friends to spare?
Catch27 is a dumb game i stumbled on. of all the most mundane and senseless things you can do there on the site in the game, and also the objective of the game is for you to... trade friends.
no i'm not feeling any better. either way i'm going to have the second test for the damn subject tomorrow. let's see if i'll pass.
i realised no matter how pissed i am i only swear when i'm happy. or maybe i'm just not downright pissed enough. or i'm just disappointed in myself for being careless. don't try me.
by the way, the final exam for this subject costs 60%. not that anybody needed to know...
[edit:and i shall also conveniently withhold the fact that each of these 4 assignments are worth 2.5% each. the marking scheme is such that 4 x 2.5% assignments + 2 x 10% test + 60% exam + 2 x 5% bonus marks.]

better off dead
i failed my last assignment for this particular subject.
no morale totally. i think it's heading into the negative sector. no marks recovered from assignment just. 12/25 and the lecturer was adamant in following the specifications. and he practically (read: indirectly and informally) accused me of cheating by manually putting in codes in parts where it is suppose to be generated by the system.

sinking!
uh. just found out i failed my last assignment for a subject. 12/25. sucks. hope i can regain a mark or two at least tomorrow when i get the paper back. otherwise... eek. i'm currently deprived of morale from this. at least jason's passed. hey dude just be glad you passed leh! don't mind me i'm just the typical sad case. nothing new.
oh yeah speaking of which, we attended a meeting for our project just this afternoon. today is a special meeting. i shall make a list of why it is special:-
it's probably getting annoying but i'm starting to think i'm better off changing line in future. which is totally impractical and illogical.
anyway i just thought up a lame idea. owing to the latest discussion of the new starwars movie, i remembered R2D2. what is there were 2 new movies that starred this little machine?
"R2D2 where are you?" is about the poor little machine getting lost in the galaxy, far far away. and his owner Luke, along with Princess Leia and the whole gang travels the galaxy in search of the robot. halfway through the show, they came across Darth Vader who had apparently kidnapped R2D2 to be used as a blending machine in his kitchen. so a fight ensues and storm troopers came out of the kitchen cabinets to fend off the valiant warriors. but the jedis used the force and squashed the empire troopers with the microwave turned on.
"R2Titu 2: Go To Zoo" (whoah a lot of pronunciation) is about a poor reporter who visited a science laboratory for a news story one day and got bitten by a radioactive spider. the reporter than subsequently found he was able to scale walls and had very sticky phlegm (eew...) so he went to find the wizard of Oz who then took away his powers. he found that he was cured, but he was unfortunately turned into a small tubby robot with three legs. and he had to go around looking for a heart by following the yellow brick road.
i really gotta get my act together. if i have the time when i get back to sg for the hols, i hope i can learn a heap of things...
i always try telling myself this... the grass is always greener on the other side.
i hate to admit this, but i think seriously a part of me already died off with that girl who broke my heart back then.
*wait for it... wait for it...*
oh yeah speaking of which, we attended a meeting for our project just this afternoon. today is a special meeting. i shall make a list of why it is special:-
- it will be the last meeting we have for this session aka semester
- the meeting was outside of the campus at the client agency
- we didn't have to pick anyone up, i.e. went straight from home
- it was the latest (4pm than previous 2-3pm) meeting we had
- for once it is in full attendance (read on and you should figure out why)
- the meeting was held in a room different from before
- a projector was used
- the clients wore more formal attire
- their boss was in attendance (AHA! you cry out)
it's probably getting annoying but i'm starting to think i'm better off changing line in future. which is totally impractical and illogical.

- re-learn JSP,
- get a grip on CSS,
- and pick up PHP too if i can.
- and fiddle around with Flash to come up with substantial animation for keeps.
- and some pixel art while i'm at it.
i always try telling myself this... the grass is always greener on the other side.
i hate to admit this, but i think seriously a part of me already died off with that girl who broke my heart back then.

The Keys to Your Heart |
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free. |
In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven... the next moment hell. |
You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring. |
You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic. |
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with. |
Your risk of cheating is 100%. You are not suited for a monogamous relationship. |
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred. |
In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted. |

pukey?
ok now my blog looks a pukey green and overall dirty and disgusting! plus i've hidden away the whole bunch of stuff you people don't really look at anyway.
so my day was dull. looking through a bit of the report i'm working on for a subject. otherwise i'm hanging loose in a way. just submitted another deadline - due 2 days later - and otherwise i'm really not in the mood to study. looking at the report is already giving me a headache. especially when 3 other guys type almost similar stuff for different parts of the report and passes it to you. The kind that makes you want to weep. and on top of correcting their grammar and spelling mistakes - despite myself not being up to par - i still have to include my own words for my own parts too. ho hum.
*can't see the movie, so i shall go think of my own princess leia*

check out etn.fm they've got an internet radio for those who like trance/house. the iradio comes in 2 flavors, trance or house so you can take your pick. and i'm pretty enjoying it now. check out my msn message in my nick. :P
ooh and jason is getting my drift about being lazy to get up and out of the room to refill his cup. so he's now using a bottle to get his transparent liquid! yay! hiak hiak... the laziness spreads! oh what practicality. a whole bollock of doodie.

fartsy
i don't think i'm an awfully artsy fartsy person. i don't know how to appreciate art and stuff like that. but i do like to see interesting renderings of the vivid imaginations of other people. like what goes on through their mind... a la through the eyes of john malkovich or something. can't remember the full title of that show. but anyway, yes i do like to see interesting shots, drawings/paintings.
and not forgetting my ears, i like to hear things too. the strange thing is, i guess i listen to pretty much anything, as long as i like it. haha that is so duh. ooh ouch i don't like that word. it's so vulgar and jarring. and i digress. i like listening to classicals actually. probably a streak of it passed down from my brother. but i also love trance/house/breakbeats and like. of course i can't be too familiar with how different are they all (the trance/house/breakbeat part. of course i'd know how classicals are different from the others. duh! ouch ouch vulgar...) and i listen to them all. remarkably i still like them all. acapella style is nice too. chinese songs are nice too. bossa nova is cool too. hrmm. i guess i pretty much accept anything thrown in my general direction. as long i like it. XD that sounds so wrong darn it. well yeah sure i like britney too. but it seems i prefer something that does not have excessive vocals, and primarily made up of instrumentals, mixing of sounds and whatnots. but hey i don't think i'd go for new age just yet. that sounds creepy in some ways. unless someone who love new age music can prove me wrong by sending me a sample of something new age they think would change my mentality about the genre.
speaking of which, how do you pronounce "genre"? i've heard people say it like "jenn-er", some go like "john-ner", another may sound like "jen-neh"(yes although that sounds a bit rude) and for now i'm sticking to the second one. unless someone starts telling me it's in fact "gun-ner" or "gun-ri" which totally would throw me off the trail and start speculating that the word originates from japan or something.
i am so in the musicky mood now. and a steak of ... streak. of artsy fartsy. and that's probably why my above post don't make a whole lot of sense.
but thanks for reading anyway.
*lots of fartsy love*

tigris, panthera?
the predator is on the prowl.
he traverses its territory in search of a fresh kill.
he spots its target!
the target is still unaware... minding its own business and feeling at ease with itself.
the predator stalks nearer...
and the predator woke up at 8 to go for lesson and back home, had a rosti for lunch and grooming himself in front of a mirror for over half an hour to dehair his chin. then the predator tried getting on the internet which is frustratingly slow until it restores normalcy after 6pm, after his dinner. then he proceeds to do his work with abandon.
then the predator creeps stealthily nearer to its target.
and with a great LEAP, he pounces on the bag of smith crisps potato chips and devours it with relish.
ahh... a day in the life of the Panthera unistudentis.

guess what happened?
here's the whole article in short incomprehensible short sentences.
uni kid bought mswindows, officexp from uni. aka cheaper. decided not to use and wanted to return unopened.
uni doesn't accept. microsoft has 30day return policy. took 34 days to reply.
kid sells mswindows on ebay, earns a bit. sells officexp, gets pulled down because of lawyer request.
gets sued. counterclaimed. 37 counterclaims between 4 lawyers and uni kid there after. settled out of court.
lawyers lost face in a sense...?

i got flooded yesterday! forgot to screendump it... it was like about 50 of the same email. with nothing in it! sheesh... and the same "name" was "kspsvsmtp01". probably somebody's smtp server was acting up. and i was online at that time too... so my MSN messenger kept repeating that i've got mail for each time it came in! how annoying... filling up the right end of my screen with the same thing over 2-3times in a row.

i'm feeling SCREWYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...
my hair is messy and pom pom!
my legs are dry!
i've got an annoying pimple on my forehead(which i'm controlling not to squeeze)!
my ankle wound still hasn't healed!
i've still got some itchy blisters on my palms (sometimes)!
i just squeezed out a huge pimple/wound/infected wound of some load of pus!!!
on a lighter note,
my back is healing!
my face seems smoother(despite bumps from old scars)!!!
my clump of white hair still looks nice(HAHA?)!
ok enough crap. i'm still screwy.

How much do you know about Singapore?
Singapore Flag
The colours of the Singapore flag represent red for brotherhood and equality; white for purity and virtue. The crescent moon represents a young nation on the rise. The five stars stand for Singapore's ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.
The crescent moon originally served as a symbol of assurance to the Malays in 1959 —the year the flag was designed— that Singapore was not a Chinese state. Today it is generally said that the moon signified a young nation rising. The flag was designed initially to have three stars, until leaders such as then Deputy Prime Minister Toh Chin Chye expressed concern that Singapore might be perceived to have associations with the Malayan Communist Party, the flag of which also had three stars. The flag was originally meant to be red as red is a very traditional Chinese color. But because of the fear of Communism in those days, a completely red flag was abandoned.

gst
oh i didn't know. just found out that, companies which has annual turnovers of over 1 million SGD are required to register for GST. if not they are not supposed to be collecting GST at all. so if a company advertises before and after GST prices, they are not supposed to be collecting GST anyway, even though they say they "absorb" the tax. pretty tricky... and forgive my ignorance.
my project website
at final bloody long last!!!
ok. so finally i'm done with one part of the project. and satisfied for now at least. i can make changes in future. it's due this friday so we'd better have something nice to show. it's just a project website.
no doubt, there're still plenty of changes here and there that should be touched up. but this shall be how it will look like for now. i realised there's a bit of a buggy area for the tables on different browsers. shall consult jason on that when he wakes. hahaha... so i tuned it to be nice for Internet Explorer for now. don't look at me hey i use Firefox!. it's cool. but some people who are lazy to get another browser would use whatever is provided.
i'm actually not supposed to be completed with the site. i'm *supposed* to be waiting for input from the guy who volunteered. i asked him to provide content on our profiles and the partners bullshit. and the product information. but apparently he hasn't gotten back to me yet. now being the impatient type that i am, i went ahead and typed up some crap instead. and sent the email out to the supervisor. i'll probably just claim that i can add whatever he has into that page. can't stand not finishing work in time!
ok enough of boring stuff. just check out my photos! amazing way to photoblog my day away... and i manage to go up to the pony(uh ok lynn says it's a pony because of its size, so i stand corrected) and take photos on my phone after coming back from school. so there! i let it sniff my right palm but it sniffed a while and put itself into reverse gear a bit. :/ so i took the photos anyway and came back. it's just a minute or so of walking. if i stand at the grass patch outside where i live, i can look straight at the horse... uh okok pony. it's at the centre of this T-junction. and it's checking out every car passing by for hot chicks. i noticed some cars do slow down and park to one side just so their kids can go see the hossie! alright i'll quit horsing around.
we went to Woolworths today. apart from the usual groceries and junk food(for yours truly), i got myself a pair of storage space bags! one large, one jumbo. it's those that can let you save space when u apply the vac on it! cool! i can use it when i'm flying back to save space!
and also, i got myself a bottle of hair conditioner. just want to keep my hair in control... if not it's like a chinaman head. forgive me for being racist but it's not nice. and i can't imagine my hair was almost always like that last time. i shall be more vain into this. any tips to share? i like the part where i have this natural tinge of white above my forehead though. people keep mistaking that i purposely got it dyed! maybe it's to do with thinking about sex too much. HAHAHAHA... well ok back to the conditioner. it's from Garnier and it's meant for dry, coarse hair that is hard to control.
so there.
i think my body is still tuned to the Singapore time. it's almost 4.30am and i can't get to bed yet. my body is probably telling itself that it's only 2.30am...
oh and my nephew can talk more coherently now... although he's still asking questions and answering them himself.
(referring to the animated emoticon i showed him in MSN)
R: "how many ryans?"
R: "many many ryans"
HAHA... that's cute. silly but cute.
there are two kinds of people. ones who rather have career, the others who rather have a lovelife. they say you can't have a flying career and a sweet lovelife together. one of it will be lesser. or lacking thereof. ever asked yourself, which category do you belong to? do you wish for a successful career (regardless of gender) to be more important, or a loving partner and a lasting relationship without a dull moment? i don't know for sure, but i might be the sort who goes for the latter. which i'm not sure if is a good or bad thing per se.
hrmm for once i feel satisfied enough to go sleep.

so i learnt a lot
i can't begin describing how much i've learnt from jason. ok so i guess i'll have to bloody start picking up CSS real soon. on my own time. all those html3.0 in the past is outdated. and so far, i've been working on the project website (due this week) and among other things, i've been going around the house taking photos to match the mood of the site. lamps and cups, phone and sofa chair, mantlepiece, window, pen and paper... the whole set. ho hum.
it's fun. brain racking but fun!

oh, and many thanks for the numerous comments and feedback for my work i've received. especially jason, who didn't held back anything. hahaha...

ken the grass cutter
once again we cut grass today. we swopped roles. jason the mower and ken the trimmer. we've gotten rather used to doing it so it's not so of a hassle now. we settled the front porch (amidst passers-by gawking) and we conquered the backyard rather easily as well. we are gaining ground on the weeds. i killed a pile of them from the previous round. and we've regained what we could, what's left of the house owner's carpetting and/or blankets. they are mostly unidentifiable. haha... so yeah it looks much neater out back now.
and i'm working on my assignments still. a student's job is never done! whoever heard of a take-home exam anyway...
*dang diggy diggy*

i'm currently doing homework. ever heard of a Take-Home Exam? me neither. doing it for now anyway. and i apologise for even putting that scary piece of a webpage up here. traumatising wasn't it...

epilate?
i love to pluck hair. from my chin. it gives me this therapeutical sensation. i can go at it for half an hour in front of the mirror removing offending hair using my tweezers. then i get a smooth chin. and i feel happy.
there are also offending hair on my legs. occasionally, i decide to weed out rebellious hairs. these are members that have split ends, irk me in whichever way, or decide to burrow under my skin (with which i'll use a nifty pen knife to pry it out [uh... eww?]). and then i feel better. ahh...
now wasn't that too much information you didn't need to know about me? at least you figure i'm a clean person.

so how was half your day?
my friday lectures start 830am. today, i woke up 830am. HAHAHAHAHA... and i dilly-dally cos i was getting some food into my system. and visited the throne room. by the time i reached it was quarter past 9. they were already having the usual break in between the 2 hours of lesson. but i stayed anyway. eventually people were walking out the main door 'cos the lecturer was only going through some discussions. by the time those who decided to leave, those that were left were barely 20 odd! and to think this was one of the larger lecture theatres. haha... so eventually the lesson ended before 10am.
and i spent the next hour in a computer lab checking mail and stuff. why did i not go home? we're having a meeting in school for the project. the "enthusiastic" group member of ours had done up a website for our project site that is... unfit for judgement. unnecessary hidden menus, "fun" text tags that don't do anything. mismatched fonts that are totally inconsistent... jason emailed him a long list. i will now do up a template and get him to prepare the content. in the words of Agent Smith from The Matrix, "it was... inevitable". of course i hope i can do something with some standard... considering jason is here and his ideas are better... XD right... he'll be screaming at me about that last comment.
really lah. some people simply has more "flair" for this sort of thing than others. why do you think especially in the Temasek School of Design do they have an interview for some of their courses. -hint hint the one who came from there-
so i headed home. i was hungry. so what did i do? make lunch lo. this was the second day i made this same dish. rosti. anyone who went to Marche would probably had tried this. and i made it myself. *beams proudly* well i grated the potato (peeled and washed, i'm not that dumb) and sprinkled salt and pepper on it. then i heated up the frying pan and got the grated potato in a circular shape rather naturally. cool. i ate it with sour cream and it was good. *beams*
i'd been cleaning up my laptop harddisk storage and cleared quite a bit of stuff. my my... the things one can accumulate unknowingly. i've got nonsensical banned tv ads and stuff like that off the net all over the place! do you? you probably should watch it one last time and discard it to save space. hehe...
exams are round the corner. not too excited about it but it'll have to come. once again, "it was... inevitable"... i shall use it until it becomes too cliched. that's because i downloaded Matrix Revolutions to watch. thanks to jason who made the request. i was going to download it for him, to which i ended up watching too, while he went to his christian fellowship thingy. hey since i downloaded it, i was going to watch it why not? "it was... inevitable" muahaha... you are going to slap your hand on your forehead already. because... (right! say it with me!) "it was... inevitable" HAHAHAHA...
ok i shall end abruptly.
*what??? that's it???*

ladida
my mood is like a rollercoaster nowadays.
oh and guess what! i made my very own homemade rosti! i'd bought a grater and used it on one potato. then i poured the grated potato into a heated frying pan and cooked it. mmm... tastes good with sourcream! so proud of myself. XD
well yes i'm feeling moody, but cheerful all at the same time. how strange can life get. well at least i was done with some portion of my work. looking forward to the end of this session(aka semester) and after the exams i'll be back in singapore for my mid-year break!
other than that, just an update on the skin problem on my back. it's kind of healing right now. i got jason to check my back (yes he's got my back) and the analysis was that the open wounds were healing up. great. at least i can save on visiting the doctor.
but for now, my hands are still itchy occasionally. they feel dry and the fingertips where the fingerprints are, all feel strangely smooth. my hands feel smooth all the time. not sweaty. hrmm. so i have to apply moisturiser just to give them some friction-ish feeling.
oh and notice the photo? that was me. with spectacles. and for some unknown reason, strangely redder-than-usual lips. must be because of the photographer. haha... you know who you are... :P
and i just discovered one dead pixel on my screen. DEAD! :(
am i childish still? i'm starting to think i have not grown up yet and still immature in many ways. that is bad. that should not be happening. i've got issues indeed. issues.
*DISARRAY!!!*

how was yours?
my day was plain. bland. monotonous. blah.
2 hour lecture in the morning and i sat on the throne for the last half hour. i can never get food to stay in me for long.
we went to the Leisure Coast Fruit Market to get some stuff after school and came home preparing dinner almost immediately. someone is hungry. hiak hiak.
menu for today:
the rest of the night both of us have been separately working on the same report. it's all bullshit. over here there are few categories of subjects. CSCI stands for Computer Science. IACT stands for...uh ... i don't know what it stands for just yet. but basically CSCI subjects are mostly chim and profound hard-to-understand(read: pass) subjects. IACT subjects are bullshit. meaning you normally talk your way out of it. but this subject we're working on is CSCI311. it's title is Software Process Management. being CSCI course code it is suppose to be challenging. however, the lecturer in charge reminded us that this is really not the case.
she mentioned to us that, "...Yes welcome to reality. this is an IACT subject in disguise..."
so there you have it. we are bullshitting our way through. with logic and reasoning of course. but we're mostly typing a whole lot of nothingness for things that never really will get done.
can't rant for nuts after that brain drain. check out this cool flash mtv i found. it's got bunnies inside. nothing violent. it's cute.

exam paper back
remember few weeks back i had an exam with 4 questions? i got the paper back today. true enough, it was 6.9/10.0... sad. but nevertheless, i managed to reclaim 0.5 marks out of oversight by lecturer on something. so result: 7.4/10. ah heck. better than nothing. but this only allows me bonus marks of 3? out of a possible 5. the frustrating part is i totalled 73%. 75% or higher allows me 4 bonus marks!!!
major disappointment.
otherwise the other highlight today would be the meeting before that. once again. the clever guy decided to pull another stunt. apparently he was working on a set of presentation slides that he wasn't even sure was required to be done. when instead we had wanted him(he volunteered himself) to do up the website for our project group. time wasting for us, effort wasting for him. and he was still not too keen on doing the website after i highlighted repeatedly that it is worth 15% of the marks for this project.
otherwise my mind is rather blank now. been pouring over some stuff for the group project. and yes for once i'm being productive... somehow...

*breath of fresh air!*
ah yes, i submitted the assignment already. what a load off my mind. i handed it in after the lecture. and i was kiasu enough to hand in first. how did i do it? well so far the lecturer always requests all who wishes to submit past assignments to him gather outside the lecture theatre since there's another lesson starting immediately after his. so we'd all exit and he would sit down somewhere nearby and everyone queues to hand in orderly.
i got out of the lecture theatre first and sat down near its exit. he decided to sit next to me, table between us. and i handed in first. hahaha... *kiasu*
oh and i keep getting this scene out of a movie replaying in my head! not that i'm racist or what but everytime i see a dark-skinned individual walking past me, i get this scene playing again! it was from one of the lame charlie sheen movies from the past. these 2 army guys were in the back of a plane, ready to be dropped behind enemy lines via parachutes. they were one white and one black. the white guy was applying his camouflage cream. then when he was done with using it, he passed the camostick to his companion beside him. the black guy looks at the camostick, and looks at the white guy. the white guy looks back at him, and looks at the camostick. he promptly apologises and keeps the camostick away.
HAHAHA
i like that. sorry i know it's kinda racist. haha... yeah i'm yellow skin. blah...
ok i digressed. so yes a major hurdle is finally over. no more assignments for database!!! just got the rest to handle. =_= but anyway... i've got 2 reports to go, meaning plenty of bullshitting (with logic and reasoning) for them and the project that we never seem to be able to get started on doing any proper work for.
it's been a while since i made any lists. i shall therefore make one up! currently, i have a list of things i wish to do. mostly digital media art but heck...
*won't fall lah*

ok i digressed. so yes a major hurdle is finally over. no more assignments for database!!! just got the rest to handle.
- a simple animation in flash with a few short scenes to do with ka chua
- another simple flash animation not as short as the first one but also with just a few scenes about toilets, a general and a launch button
- yet another flash with a set of storyboard scenes about some gey kiang spider
- another photo with multiples of myself, in some sort of a fight scene
- isopixels of the house i live in, from the interior
- pixel art wallpaper
- taking pretty photos of the mountain ranges near where i stay now
- yet another panoramic shot of this place
*won't fall lah*

this was a painstaking job
so i drew by pixels and came up with this. i started off with just 4 screens. off state, power on, booting up and the xp desktop.
then i wanted to animate them. but putting in only four screens seemed sucky.
- so i made screens in between...
- so i made the xp booting up splash screen...
- and then i chopped up the initial booting up screen...
- then i made the mouse cursor move...
- so out came the start menu...
- followed by desaturation of the desktop...
- then there was the shutdown option popup...
- and finally the blacking out until the laptop shuts down...
the storm dies at last
yes! i'm done!
"...ohhhhh, happiness is here once again..."
i figured i disappeared and gone without blogging for the past 2 days. and i practically didn't chat with anyone online. i was busy working on my database assignment. -sigh- i was so panicky 'cos i thought i didn't think i can finish it! the few of the questions were really difficult. brain racking... or wrecking... whatever. it's due tomorrow and i'm just done printing the whole thing out. got a lot of help from jason fortunately. and apparently he finished it before me. haha... if i had been able to focus on my work properly i might have taken less time. at long last i'm done now! and this assignment is the last of them all for this subject!!! *jumps in joy*
for the past 3-4 nights, i have been sleeping really late. just last night, i slept at 5am. well alright, it's morning already but i consider it one cycle of the day. and barely after 6hours of sleep did i wake up automatically and continued working on it. needless to say i got it figured out(although it probably isn't as desirable solution, but figured out nevertheless) and got the stack in hardcopy.
i had a lecture on friday morning (as usual) and went to the computer lab on campus to do my work. jason and i stayed there the whole bloody day until 5pm. so that was 7hours straight facing the computer screen in campus. and i came back and continued my stuff.
so today, i shall flood my blog with multitudes picture postings! then you'll understand why i couldn't focus on my work fully... hehe XD
i found this rjc student's non-blog that seemed like he was living in dismal in singapore. maybe some people has seen it before, he's called Gabriel. and i find some of his stuff interesting. especially the part where he lists out a bunch of phrases that are english, only that they sound so wrong. so here's Gabriel's Homepage.
a friend of mine shared this piece of creative writing with me. it's title The Missing Piece from someone called Shel Silverstein studying at a university. i like it too.
need to send huge files to a friend? wish you can do it by email? how about this YouSendIt that lets you upload the file to them from their website? they send an email to your recipient and allow downloading of the file for 7 days or so. maximum is 1gig. however, i tried sending and it was probably my connection problems, that i couldn't finish uploading 300+MB to them.
speaking of connection, my pacnetbb had problems on saturday morning. wee hours morning. my connection was interrupted slightly before 3am and it didn't got back up until 12noon. there was an outage apparently so tough luck for me. a lot of my resources for doing my work were online so i can do very little without internet connection. i trudged on for slightly more than half an hour before i headed to bed because i wasn't getting very far.
another friend who includes interesting news clips in the blog brought this to my attention. another interesting new technological breakthrough. Konarka is a company that manufactures solar cells. the difference is their products are not hard and stiff like "first-generation" solar cells that're being used for solar heating panels currently. they claim theirs to be third generation. apparently the second generation are more flexible than the first, but not as efficient. so it would be interesting to see how in future we can have a jacket that recharges our handphone or a laptop that never needs to plug into the wall socket. bring them to picnics! of course the news article was on military applications but i certainly won't mind having a handphone that lasts indefinitely... :)
i also surfed a few sites here and there, related to pixel art. and some were recommended by a friend. the most prominent would have to be eboy! man, their work is amazing! i also came across this one with a few tutorials. it's from china but good no less, called ourcall.org. and another called pixelfreak which is amazing too! i normally look around for more tutorials on how to draw... aha! that's what was distracting me... :P
so that's pretty much just about enough rant i can unload. glad i can finally heave a sigh of relief for the moment.

presentation day!
well uh... i had a 10minute presentation today. nothing fancy, but i'm satisfied with my performance! i'd rate myself... 8/10. i was wearing this smug look on and off during the tutorial. *ego*
they call this a "seminar". every week for the past 2 weeks, now, and the next 2-3 weeks, there will be 2 groups during each tutorial who will present their topics in class. mine is the 6th topic. this means we're the 2nd group to present during this tutorial, along with the pair presenting the 5th topic.
well one thing i did was bring an extension cord for the projector and my laptop. the wall socket was rather a distance away. and the wireless mouse came to good use too. well not much use but it was being used. hahaha... and i blah-ed through roughly 8:30 mins. i was supposed to have 10mins to talk. and i actually set the timer on my phone before i started so i can have the vibration inform me that the time was up. of course i'd tried to be as professional as possible while blah-ing away. but apparently nobody was paying much attention it seemed. and sadly, i don't think the tutor was any more interested than the rest.
right after we were finished, the tutor asked "So, are there any questions?" to the rest of the class. no answer. "no? alright then, that's it. thanks." and with that, the class dismissed. and before i even started packing up my stuff, the tutor was no where to be seen. i am appalled. :-O
so yes i'm still working on my assignment. i'm starting to wonder if i'll ever complete it on time... plus my computer is giving me problems with the database.
*here comes your chance! ~whoosh~ quick hold on tight and don't miss it! ~brrrrrrrmmmm~*

organise organise organise!
gee i woke up at 9.50am and was actually on time for lesson at 10.30am! wow... and i had toilet breaks, breakfast and time to check email somemore. amazing.
lessons today were unusually interesting. and i managed to get near to full score on my bowling game in my handphone. XD
i think i'm extra chirpy today after that can of Coke.
we had a trip to the fruit market after school and didn't buy as much as we had expected. and we bought more watermelon! first thing i reached home i sliced it up and put it into the fridge. so hyper! and i mull an hour or so while jason took a nap. i volunteered to fry rice for dinner and so that was what i did! *hyper* and it was rather edible at least. haha... ^_^
and then i did my accounting. sheesh. it's in a mess mostly. i had to reorganise some of it because i had extracted figures from jason's accounts. and we used different ways to calculate. so i looked through the receipts i'd been keeping to retrace. thus i had them receipts reorganised as well.
arghh... till now i'm still trying to figure out how to do my assignment questions!!! -pulls hair- and i've still got a lot of other things to do... though not as high priority. this one is due on MONDAY! *faints*
i'm having mixed feelings now. happy + interested + sad + perplexed all rolled into one. my university subjects have brought me plenty of pain and pleasure. all at once.
*hope to get things done...*

anyone looking for a job?
my university has one.
- fetches 3.4k monthly
- for 3 months at a contract.
- 20 hour work week.
- deals with databases,
- works mostly on PL/SQL.
somethings are never good for morale
somethings were found out today intended as a side issue. my thoughts have been affected greatly despite the passing remark.
i'm looking for some advice
vodaphone prepaid plans
uniwireless offer
here's my situation: i'm using vodaphone prepaid for my handphone while down under. and the prepaid plan has expired. now i'm looking for a plan to "recharge" my calling credits.
the uniwireless website is offering me 10% discount for whatever plan i choose. it expires 15th may. so i want to choose a plan from there and recharge asap, and get a better deal.
i'm looking at 2 plans primarily(prices are in AUD, but that's not an issue):
my spending so far has been an average of about $60+ a month. which goes to say $50 won't necessarily be enough for a month of my usage. it'll probably be used up sooner. if i get $100, one worry is if i would overspend for the first month and use it all up too soon. or would i not be able to spend it all by the 60th day. but the offer, with its limited period now, i might not be able to get a similar offer next time round. so a $100 plan for $90 would be worth it.
but i'm not sure. i'll hang around a few days more before coming to a conclusion on this one. meanwhile i'll work on my assignment due next monday. and thank goodness this is the last one of its kind! for this particular subject that is...

do your eyes hurt?
obviously it should. since i just changed the layout of my blog. but that's beside the point. i just wanted to have a different look. apparently i realise i've uglified it so feel free to suggest improvements to it here and there.
the top three links lead to my other nonsense sites. they are grouped there since they belong to me, and link to external areas.
i've shrunk some portions to the top left links that relate to the internal structure of this blog. meaning the stuff about me you never really want to see anyway are hidden away. and also the previous more recent posts and archive of this blog is hidden there too. these sections toggle between show and hide when you click on the corresponding buttons.
the rest of the stuff you have been familiar with on your right previously are now on your left. the stuff are basically the same with some things removed from this portion.
i don't know why am i bothering to explain a website since they are mostly self-explanatory but i just felt like i probably should bring things up anyway.
in other news, i had a lab-check today. read: answering questions in a fashion that doesn't reveal any answers at all. jason and i did quite alright. but our other group member - the one that came over yesterday - wasn't too good with it. we tried to help. we are hoping he doesn't misunderstand to think we sabotaged him by giving him wrong instructions. we were supposed to answer 4 questions each, and 2 other questions corresponding to our roles in the project.
but given there are 4 roles but only 3 of us (one other dropped out of course), we had initially decided to answer the last set of 4+2 anyway. so we split it up such that jason answers 2, i answer 2, and he answers 2. but fortunately (or unfortunately) this did not happen.
so he had the mindset that he was to answer the first 2 questions, and me the next 2 and so on. he did not realise he was suppose to be answering the set relating to his own area of tasks. -sigh- just felt we misled him. his marks weren't as good. the 2 of us had full marks.
on a lighter note, i gave the tutor a pile of answers to each question and he was already nodding his head to indicate i can proceed to the next question even before i finished halfway! same goes for jason. hehe... the tutor had been stumped frequently by jason and his questions. so fun!
then after the next lesson which was a lecture(as usual i was playing bowling/golf on my phone XD) we headed home. for a quick bite we made... HAR GAO! SIEW MAI!!! wheee~ they were nice. jason wasn't too impressed but i liked them. but they cost quite a bit! frozen food no choice. but we steamed it nicely so it was still tasty (to me)...
we picked up our project supervisor from campus and headed to meet with our clients at their office. the guy that had been giving us problems often was unable to come(another guy had something on too but that's not an issue) because he... forgot. he thought we were meeting the clients in campus! he better not start thinking we were out to set him up or anything like that! we had another guy with us too! so the irritating one didn't come because by the time he called we were already halfway through and he was a long way off from where we were. the campus was quite some distance from town. so too bad. i covered up for him saying he's got other assignments to tend to.
i think for the past few days we've been having a lot of curry for meals. haha... we had some chicken curry, some thai green curry, and today, mussaman curry. which was supposed to be hot. to the caucasians apparently since we ate it with relish. with rice of course.
so yeap that's it. otherwise i'm working on my projects. and another deadline coming next wednesday. -sigh- the woes of a student. should i even bother going on to coursework masters at all???
*wait wait wait wait wait. sorry. wait.*

HELP!
a guy came over in the evening today. the 3 of us guys discussed about our project for an hour or two. it was at least rather productive...
but that's not my main topic.
*serious tone*
i know people will just tell me to see the doctor, but here goes... don't read if you gross out easily.
i've got a skin problem on my back. and a bit of my upper arm(a bit = 1% of the skin at that area) as well. it looks like pimples. could be acne. but i'm not sure. they are little red bumps of different sizes. they don't itch. sometimes if i happen to squeeze them (out of boredom) i'd probably broken the bump and some stuff come out. i'm not sure what. there may be transparent liquid(plasma?) or pus(or whatever you call that after you squeeze a pimple) upon squeezing. i repeat - it does not itch. it seems to be limited to my back area.
so i'm just wondering what i can do to improve the situation. ideas, anyone?
