cooking for dummies

i dunno how to cook. so i learn from my maid. dun laff k... i learn really simple stuff! it's challenging for a guy that dunno how to cook at all wor. ok lah i know how to 煮饭 quite literally. yes i know how to cook rice. XD

and instant noodles of course. boil water and place the noodle in 3mins or so that's it. heck i heard this on tv but can somebody verify for me? to cook instant spaghetti, you are supposed to boil it in water for 7mins, then cold water for 7mins. is that it? sounds too good to be true hahaha...

eggs sunny-side-ups i learnt from my maid... pour about a tablespoon of oil in a wok/pan and let it crackle a bit. then crack the egg out of its shell into the frying pan/wok(i think more of frying pan than wok cos not easy to get in australia) and let it fry a while before flipping it over and continue frying... then scoop it out of the pan and on to a plate plus pour some soya sauce over it. right? gee i hope i got the procedure correct. i didn't exactly go through home econs you know.

steamed egg mmm yes i love steamed egg! to simplify things, it's supposedly one part egg, one part water. 2 eggs crack into a bowl, pour in a teaspoon of light soya sauce and pepper, whip until some bubbles on the surface. takes about 30secs to 1min... prepare another bowl with a dash of salt in it. pour the egg mixture over into this bowl and fill the first bowl with water 120% of the eggs (i'd call it "water level of the eggs" but it dun make sense really, and neither does "egg level"). next, whip the egg mixture a short while more, and prepare a pot with 3cm depth of boiling water in it, and a stand for the bowl of egg mixture to be in. place the bowl of egg mixture into the pot and adjust it to medium to small fire(uh or would you call it gas?) and leave it for about 10mins. monitor once in a while to check the surface of the egg mixture is hardened, with a fork. when it's done, the stemed egg should have the same consistency of toufu. wobbly wobbly... but can poke in. then when it is done, take the bowl of steamed egg out and pour a tablespoon of light soya sauce over it. and that's that.
