a travel agency

hrmm ppl i jus went to visit a few travel agencies today. and i'm telling u u shd always hunt around a few to compare prices. first one i went, i was told by the person who recommended, they had competitive pricing.

$870 sure enough was cheaper than $890 the previous one i went 2 weeks ago.

next, along the same row of shops, we saw a cardboard cutout of the Singapore Girl from SIA so we thought, wth just try our luck and went in to ask. $850. @#$% even cheaper! apparently this Travel Media claims they are the distributor for SIA air tickets to other travel agencies hence they have more competitive prices. and according to their website they just started opening up to walk-in bookings. previously they only dealt in corporate customers. haha the guy serving us told us they had the partition behind a door in that shop that deals with corporate ticketing and guess what he said the price was for those tickets? first class & business class? $12k onwards!?!

=_= right. $850 was satisfactory enough. but of course we headed to one last stop elsewhere. but ladida this place was charging $900 for the same ticket. wtf?! so i just asked a few patronising questions and scooted off.

SIA has a list of travelling agencies who provide ticketting for their flights. i suppose it's wise to go through the list and pick whichever is your favourite. but not all agencies provide student air fare pricing.

one more birthday

ah yes felicia's bdae~ hehe hope she'll find the ikea vouchers useful! V^_^ and i was certainly abit extra at nydc to order the destiny's child pasta thingy while the rest had mudpies hahaha... =X

hrmm dun laff at me but i'd just downloaded gunbound. yes the game. i suppose i got pretty bored stiff at home. sick of playing shattered galaxy, PLUS the stupid game keeps closing itself on me halfway thru battle! grrr... waste time... hence, gunbound. my first game was omg jialat. 2nd still bad, 3rd getting better. but the graphics are kinda cute so i'll continue working on it quietly. ok now that i declared i'm playing it isn't that quiet. but still not that loud right? i mean only the few of you ppl read this wor... -blinkblink-

haha i love confessions. ok one more. actually i love to read. just that if i read too much, i dun have time for other stuff. silly enough a reason but i just got lazy. haha...

ok that was crappy but at least informative in some ways. =_=

tiring...

maybe i can consider this a "summary exercise" of sorts. i slept at like about 1030pm on saturday night, woke up at 4, drove off to the padang at 430, and ran from 6 to 9. 21km. 2 feet. very tired feet. well at least i maintained 3hrs from last year. although i was supposed to have taken 2h 45mins. but hey i'm on leave anyway so why bother?

the army half marathon took us around town quite a bit. started off from the esplanade bridge(ok so we were at the pandang and the congestion was horrible making our way on to the bridge). Ran towards Lau Pa Sat, turned on to ECP towards Changi, up the Sheares Bridge and exit to Fort Road. East Coast Park for quite a stretch until some where near Parkway Parade where the turning point was. Back to Fort Road on to Mountbatten, past stadium boulevard towards Lavender exit to Crawford Street via the underpass on to the bayfront under the bridges and head towards the esplanade finally, and under the bridge where the finishing line was. -phew- that's quite a mouthful.

indeed it felt a bit lonely. i started off with Simon Leng, but he broke off and ran ahead while i got stuck in the walking crowd. after some time later i met with robin and we were alongside for 3/4 of the time. until after the east coast turning point where i had my one and only toilet break. he ran ahead, but i eventually caught up with him at stadium boulevard!

AND i drove home after that. =_= tiring... and lindie, about that job thingy... NOW u know why i won't be up to it.

oh yeah next time i'll speel corectly. HweeSan OR huiSHan. not hweeSHAN. right got it. :P

hrmm wonder how's the poor lynn is doing over in milan. hope she's not enjoying herself too much until forget about us. haa!

another idea!

sorry about that prev post, i must admit i'm not exactly the sort who would start writing a thesis just after reading somebody's opinions published in a paperback book. just that the theories were engaging enough i want to share some of it. :P

ok so my hamster upstairs was fighting fit today and decided to run a lot more efficiently, i managed to make my brain snap and had another inspiration...

no doubt i'm sure somebody can easily snatch this idea off my blog, but rememer, it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas...

now ask yrself this question. can you name (seriously, do let me know) where the florists are located in town? namely areas as
  • suntec,
  • bugis,
  • orchard (yes taka b1 if u wanna count that in),
  • & shenton way.

think of somewhere central to those locations. think very hard. correct me if i'm wrong, but by now you probably realise there are barely a florist in sight at those places??? hey i mean the lomantic kind. not those u would buy flowers from to visit the guan yin temple behind bugis. those with packaging and the works.

what if somebody actually purchased flowers in bulk cheaply, get shopspace along the streets and sell the flowers like bottles of soft drinks in fridges to keep them fresh? i have this belief. you supply consumers with something to buy, they will start to consider buying it, especially if they see others doing it more and more often. if nobody starts, they won't be highlighted of such an option available to them for purchase.

sure it'll be a big investment. but if ppl were to notice the prices of the flowers being cheap, and guys being cheapos are often around town, may reconsider and purchase the flowers for some girl, or vice versa! eh bien voila! il faut de tout... they *have* been stirring the slogan of love in singapore blahblah... why certainly this exchange of flowers as gifts would start a new trend of being romanticism in the urban jungle, no? single stalks don't have to be elaborate. that's how they can be sold cheaply, and hopefully still make 200% returns at least. =X

just my two cents. oh and somewhere out there you decide this is a good idea, please send me an email at least, maybe a fifty dollar note, too, should you decide to embark on this grandiose concept. no mean feat i must admit, but if you have the calibre i'm sure whoever you may be who decides to take up the challengecan succeed. i certainly will be glad for your efforts.

then again, remember please. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas. it is wrong to steal ideas.

that is all. :P

p/s: yes i know of the flaws and the cons. flowers dying aka making losses, daily resupplies costs, ppl with allergies, big floral competitors... do share with me of your opinion should have any!

what a pleasant day!

ok so there wasn't anything interesting that happened today. woke up feeling fine and dandy. did abit of work in camp, picked up a book on the table my colleague was intending to read for the day but never seemed to find the time to do so. being a nice guy that i was and always have been, i decided to help him read thru the book. it's a book on "influence" by some prof Caidlin or something... that said, i read thru 2.5chapters of it. =_= by 5.30pm when it was time to knock off and go home, i managed to finish reading about 1/3 of the book(over 90 pages) besides doing other stuff...
  1. 1hr+ worth of work thingy,
  2. watched spiderman2,
  3. watched abit of van helsing,
  4. had abit of lunch,
  5. toilet breaks,
  6. get signatures for my clearance form,
  7. and even did some bunk cleaning for inspection...

amazing day! haha... silly me. :P

but it was really an interesting read. opens up me to "oh now i get what the advertisers are trying to do...", although i must acknowledge the author may have been biased to his own belief so i should take everything with a pinch of salt and not at it's face value.

let's say for some example's on ppl who can put to use on how to influence their peers... ppl who read my blog... here's a sample of what i read, in my own translation.

eg1: CA is at work and needs to photocopy some stuff at a common photocopier. there's a queue waiting, but she wants to get back to her other work fast. she can ask one of the following questions:

  1. "Excuse me, i have 6 pages. can i use the copier first because i am in a hurry?"
  2. "Excuse me, can i use the copier first?"
  3. "Excuse me, i have 6 pages. can i use the copier first because i have 6 pages?"

According to the study, 1 and 3 will actually work more likely in her advantage as compared to 2, when she asks each of the person in queue in turn, whether she can jump in front of them.

however, notice that at option 3, in comparison with option 1, does not provide new info to the "victim" *ahem* but rather the use of "because" would more likely allow CA an opportunity to have a victim give the go ahead to jump their queue!

fascinating. hehe...

AHM

ok so i'm gonna run for AHM this sunday. army half marathon. it's gonna be in town, around the national stadium and suntec area mostly. i thought initially i don't have to run. becos of my sunday duty. now apparently they getting somebody else to do the duty. so i'm gonna run. good and bad. ladida.
good: i don't have to stay in camp for the sunday
bad: i have to run 21km.
but oh c'mon. i'd already ran 13km with LKL the other time in seletar, what's another 8km... i'll run cos i'm beginning to feel a tad garang. muahaha... sinister leh...

i got stuff i wanna do

so i got tons of stuff i wanna do. no, really. not stuff i wanna buy. things i want to create. mostly internet-related. no not inter-related. internet-related. =_= i've this bunch of gaming websites i wanna do but just can't get around to doing anything about them.
  • i want to build browser-based games! yes those like neopets! although i'm pretty much dismayed at the fact nobody really does those nowadays given the game consoles reign. i've got at least 3 of these concepts hidden somewhere deep in my labyrinth of data files in my desktop.
  • i want to have a mod of cs! hrmm... but it's kinda dead now. so no point. maybe mod something else, some other game that's "scene". i just wanna mod something!
  • i've got a proposal for some website out there, to set up shop here in little SG. i figure i can try my luck with their stuff in the market locally, if not regionally. yes i know i have a huge appetite. just need a venture capitalist. anybody out there? it's nothing illegal or xxx mind you. it's fun and involves a lot of products that a person such as I would be interested in. and like-minded individuals.
  • i want to set up a portal-like website. it links people to people. yes something like friendster. but it's a business portal. tell me if u noticed something out there in the market already and dash my hopes quick... before i turn it into reality and find it no longer a niche! a business portal. picture it. somebody wants a job done. the online kind. the LEGIT kind of a job. and somewhere out there someone can do the job. they both belong to this portal. connect the dots and they get what they want.

so many ideas, so little time, so little cash, so little effort, so little morale, so little energy. =X

i'm looking for bargains/offers for some of these things...
  • laptop(fujitsu/acer/hp)
  • handphone(panasonic/nokia/motorola)
  • printer+ink cartridge(canon/hp)
  • digicam
  • student price airticket

just let me know... thx...

oh and the part abt an opinion.

i'm not that obsessed...

hrmm hey i'm just feeling proud of myself. u guys know how url's die off from the IE address bar history after a while when u dun visit that link? her's isn't there anymore. yes i used to check out her blog to see how she's doing. this means i haven't been visiting that site of hers! i'd assume this is cos she isn't so on my mind anymore. which is a good thing right? to think i was pathetically obsessed abt her nearly till cyberstalking haha... =_= i'm one sick puppy. well here're shouts out to A1, hope she's happy with her life and new guy, her job and studies.

i love to make lists!

yeah i so love to make lists... here's some stuff i wanna get before i fly~
  1. new laptop (probably fujitsu)
  2. new handphone (no idea which to get, but i jus wan a new hp!)
  3. part time job for the short period
  4. hard casing luggage
  5. student visa to oz land
  6. cold weather clothings
  7. get back my pink ic
  8. ...mind block...

i'd love a million given to me unconditionally too. who doesn't?

here i am to save the day

there's a proverb. a doctor can heal others but not himself. i hear the troubles of many others and yes, all i offer is a listening ear but tts the best i can provide without being annoyingly nosey. yet, i can't seem to seek refuge anywhere much. there're lots of things that i can't tell lots of ppl. maybe just some things to some ppl... maybe there're some things i shd stop doing altogether, for the sake of many ppl. call it disillusioned but i'm fed up with being a solitary penguin in a mass orgy of other penguins on a floating plateau of ice. it's tricky trying to keep up the goody two shoes mentality. bad boys have more fun, as do bad girls. just dun think i'd be cut out for some thrashy lifestyle some ppl get up to out there. goodness i need to see more of the world...

just my two cents.

how i'm feeling...

ah maybe it's the rain. or maybe it was this lady's blog. i'm feeling jaded. got that sinking feeling. no. i'm pretty sure it's not because of A1. not anymore. just wondering what to do with my life after i ORD. after i get a degree. in a way i guess i want to be successful. heck, who doesn't? do let me know in a few years' time. if i turn more materialistic. will i get a sports coupe? get a better dress sense? suppose i can afford those but lost a part of me that i have now.

i've seen ppl go into the working world and change into a different person. maybe they don't realise it. maybe they do, but think it's for the better. maybe they're right. so tell me, when i start to work - a perm/stable job i mean - did i change, by a lot or little bit, more refined or more of a jerk?

for now i just feel i'd just floated off shore off the beach called NSF gradually... floating to the big ocean. let's hope i dun get washed away and drown in the nothingness. must be too free nowadays. filled with emotions. seems a lot of things happening to ppl around me. but no these things dun involve me. just somehow i empathise with these ppl with their situations or whatnot.

it's true what u've heard abt FFIs

ok so i woke up 7am, popped over to my camp by 8 and tot boy was i late. but i waited for the dental officer for over half an hour before he showed up, called me in, sit me down in the dentist chair, open my mouth, and... "ok u can go now". @#$% fine.

ok yesterday was fun. went with our birthday girl LYNN(hey u asked to be identified) to have dinner at fish & co.'s... their teriyaki xalmon erh i meant salmon was just right! serving wasn't too much either. along with us were tnim & obie. so we took some pics here n there, popped over to olio dome next door and had her cake for dessert! hehe of course not forgetting ms rach` came down with her pressie after all. right so tts that for yesterday. hehehe i'll upload the pics when i'm in the mood! V^_^

i love working on weekends! not!

yeah as if i purposely put myself on duty during weekends of my clear leave period just so i can "enjoy" my sundays with LHL. *hiuk hiuk* not too bad la can have the shiokness of it all... c'mon ma which part time job can get u escorting the guy and hitching a ride in our cool vehicle with TP bikes alongside. i find it most hilarious when civilian vehicles thinking that we're slow traffic try to cut in front of us only to find more volvo's and bikes with blinker lights ahead. then they were like "OMG bigshot" then they'd be instructed by our biker guys to stay away hehehe... so next time fellas, as long u notice a white rexton and/or volvo in front of you, slow down and take a closer look before u dash to overtake them! hehe...

this is bad u know... that sweep was probably my last one ever, and i'm actually enjoying all that crap... gawd... that's bad... :P but i guess i can't complain much. stay home slack. when got work, do. no work, slack somemore. oh well enjoyment will be slightly more uncomfortable for a while next week. back to work for a week, then rest, then work, then ord. counting down already man... can't wait for this whole shit to get over and done with. hope i can sign clearance forms without problems... darn it...

start my day early again...

hrmm woke up 5am, another rare day... actually got work... anyway drove down myself to t2vipc and did my job (hot, noisy n stuffy place somewhere), came home 10ish and chat online awhile. concuss 11am - 2.30pm zzz shucks KO sia...haha

yesterday was silly... somebody fly me aeroplane when we were supposed to meet up. then was evening time when i went back camp on a voluntary basis. they "invited" me to go back , so they could give me a plaque before i ORD. hehehe "in appreciation for services rendered...." or so it was written on that plaque. so i ate and drank a little. bo pian i was chatting with the 2 tiger beer ladies and i sort of convince one of them to take a sip from my mug and i'll down the rest. muahaha... ya i know it's just their tactic =_= but hey c'mon they were both 20yo. haha i mean if not for me having to get to work this morning, i'd have offered to send them home after the event and erm... erm... we'll see what happens wahaha... oh come on that is so ArWooOooOOoo sia. =_= u ppl think i'm lidat meh? =X

right i'd decided the next series of pics will come from me taking snapshots of corners around my house. corners such as my jacuzzi... living room... dining room... some sort of interior decor bit!

celebrity showcase~

crikey. first thing i woke up, shit it's 530am and i gotta be in sentosa by 6. after a glass of milo and a trip to the bathroom, i managed to zoom down in 15mins at abt 160km/h most of the time on the empty roads of the wee hours hehehe... pity, cos i was late by 2mins. or so i was told. hahaha... darn Healthy Lifestyle Campaign(HLSC)...

thank goodness for the invention of golf carts. if not i won't survive the 1.8km walking with that bloody bag on my back. so i had to carry it for some distance afterwards anyway, but it was fun to do it in that crowd cos it makes me look important muahaha... hey c'mon i was so close to the man and occasionally i was basically with the CPG guys.

heck so the event ended abt 11. home for lunch and i concus on the couch in the living room. zzz... half an hour later i went upstairs to my room to carry on. zzz... right. so i met L den popped over Ikea for her purchases -hungry- and to beppu ramen for dinner *finally. hungry.* then was a short cruise and suntec to burn some time. oh ya found G at her workplace *partially by chance* den she joined us for the tok cok session too. hurhurhur we sat there abt 2hrs with Y and S till the tcc closed shop. hahaha... zzz

ok leme recount the celebs i've got close contact with today...
  1. diana ser (HLSC, i walked past while she was preparing to do a event report on cam.
  2. jamie yeo (HLSC, she was a host for the event, with glenn ong, but who cares abt glenn)
  3. zoe tay (HLSC, graced the event for some reason, her tummy dun seem big yet)
  4. kym ng (Ikea, in front of us at the cashier)
  5. the guni man who supported 4 kids to uni that came out on news (outside beppu ramen, L noticed him haha)
  6. the all impt, pm lee. he's the reason i woke up so early anyway.

round 1 start!

bad way to start off my leave clearance.
a) sunday gotta go sentosa to work.
b) just had phone call from CWM reprimanding me for some stuff i forgot to do... how irresponsible of me... =_=
c) parents came in at first sign of me awake to nag at me to clear up the mess in my room

wonder what i'll be up to today... the past few days were kinda drifting... ACS helped me settle some silly velcro dilemma thank you oh so very much... and i either stayed in camp the whole day doing not much or did some work out of camp... the weekday runs were not too tiring amazingly haha...

ok so yesterday i had to sweat quite a bit no thanks to LBS. and he's also the indirect cause of my reprimanding. ok so i should have set my priorities right. but he contributed to making me run around getting stuff for him. idiot. then anthony had the stuff he wanted us to help do. end up i had to bring it home to type! grrr...

my itchy fingers also caused me to lose sleep over fiddling with this blog... i jus made my very own thumbnail viewer! it don't look like much, but being so compact, it actually runs on client-side! being javascript crazy, i had everything on this page load the pics dynamically and display different groups of thumbnails on the fly in a new window~ neat huh =X sorry that came from the geek inside me screaming to jump out. ^_^
